| Sadly, yes... But Solanki and Flintoff are kinda steadying the ship! I wanna see them take it to over 120 and let Pietersen work his magic hopefully... |

Flintoff is starting to look good. (just wait, I've put the kiss of death on him now!)

| Cometh the hour, cometh the mullet. Fred said he wanted to "do some damage" with KP, so lets see what these two can do. Well done solanki for steadying the ship though.

| Symonds doing it all. Highest score, bowling tightly, got Pietersen's wicket and just caught Giles. I must confess to a bit delight when Pieterson was out. Excuse me a bit of weakness there. I will work on getting over resentments in a more mature manner. England 139-7

| Despite the fact that I've suggested that he's not the greatest player in the Aussie team, I think Hoggy is a good ODI player. He wouldn't be first choice (or possibly in the team) if Warne was available, but that doesn't diminish his worth as a bowling ODI all-rounder. His batting average I think is in the mid-20s, he scores at a reasonable rate, fields well and usually bowls okay. He's turned in a couple of pretty fine performances, but is generally a sound middle over bowler, not easy to get away, but also unlikely to rip through a team. I think he's having a reasonable run of form and chinaman bowlers are always going to be a little different/difficult for batsmen. I would typically be looking for 1-2 wickets from him a match for about 40-50 runs. On the bigger front, his bowling generally lacks the penetration to be a test bowler. ODI bowling has also flattened out his style a little (as it has done with the other Aussie spin option Nathan Hauritz), which works against getting wickets in the longer game Solely on his attitude (puppydogish - odd for an ex-postie) he's one of my favourite cricketers |

| Hoggs a good addition of the ODI team but he's about the 4th choice in tests.

| I can't believe both teams have a player nicknamed "Hoggy". Can't be all that likely but anyway. Lee and Symonds made a big difference today. Symonds was the one player from both team who actually timed the ball consistently well and his bowling was tidy. Lee bowled very well too and he and McGrath just strangled England at the start. Vaughan being missing a blessing in disguise? Not against the Aussies where a collapse is always possible. In fairness to Solanki he played ok after a shaky start. Anyone else question Tresco's decision the put the Aussies in? |
