The decision to bat by Tresco shows the margin for error is small. Any slight error made against the Aussies is going to be focused on and not forgotten.
This summer England are not playing SA or NZ where errors by Englands batsmen, bowlers or Capitain are going to remain unpunished.
I don't know whether Tresco made a mistake to field. I just think he was facing a good side that had now find its stride and all of a sudden look very capable.

excuses...bored? - a little...so, i have a few more to add to..

- batting under the lights. "for some puzzling reason, Marcus Trescothick saw fit to bowl first against the big beast, in a day-night fixture, on a baking hot afternoon, on a blameless batting wicket" andrew miller

- rusty, (haven´t REALLY been challenged this summer and maybe some surprise at the opposition *see next excuse ) complacent, even -possibly- tired openers

- *lee getting his 1 in 5 matchwinning session

- pieterson getting his 1 in 5 non-matchwinning innings

- playing at 50% (i´d have said 60 but deduct 10 for captaining blunders) against an opposition playing at 70%

- basically, "Six balls, two runs, three wickets...contest over." andrew miller sums it up - these things do happen in one day cricket!!!

it is in jest as i´m calling it how it could be interpreted -granted at a strech, so i will remove it if asked. also if lee has a good game next up - i´ll return and write lines:
"i will not doubt lee´s ability again" x100 (could work but for the copy/paste) so, lee lovers, this is an apology in advance should he perform.

as a man with no emotional ties to either team i´m starting to get quite excited about this series!!!

Lee's been bowling well for a while. NZ, PAK and WI could all back him on that.

McGrath has been bowling spot on all throughout this series, and Lee simply picked up where he left off.

At the moment is Kasper and Gillespie that are out of sorts, perhaps its time for them to try out a new bowler, a fresh face? Just for a couple of ODI's maybe.

well, you are are right - my apologies.

i did remember him getting flemming a few times. and having checked he also got lara. he even got a man of the series , not m.o.m however - which leads to the fact that the point really was matchwinning sessions not good bowling :

Mat Runs HS BatAv 100 50 W BB BowlAv 5w Ct St
15 109 38* 36.33 0 0 30 4/38 19.93 0 4 0

that´s his 2004/5 ODI record (which basically consited of the teams to which beny refers) - can hardly argue with his effectiveness in ODCricket.
