The lengthened fielding restrictions maybe, but substitutes are wrong and a waste of time. We should have 11 vs 11.

Two thoughts here that would make these rules more effective

1. squad of twelve with sub named after the toss

2. powerplays decided by the batting not the bowling captain - which would probably mean they occur in the last 10 overs...

Spot on fellas.

Change the number of overs etc all you like but leave this game as 11 vs 11.

i still think they should be given time.

however, with the subs, it seems to be geared towards the team batting second.

I hope that the new rules are gone before the next World Cup.Imagine being able to win the Final all because you won the toss and your sub batter gets 50 to dig you out of trouble.Be an awful way to lose.

I'm sure by then they'll see some logic to these new perks, which added nothing to the game.

Talking

THe subing law is outragous i think, it takes away from the game, i always believed the game to be a mental one more than a physical, and this takes away the concept of team work, imagine tendulkar not being able to field but bat, and a team puts up a pretty good total on the board only to have Tendulkar comeinto the game and take away the game right before your eyes.

The fielding restrictions is a pretty good idea, but needs to be more thought out, maybe haveit so that the two that are in the captians control can only be used after the 20 over mark or have one be used by the batting captain and the other by the fielding.

i hope the subs are gone before the next world cup.

Definitely. It'll stop the upsets. Just say Scotland have Australia 7 down, Australia will then sub on the likes of a Damien Martyn to gear them home. Keep it 11 vs 11.

Angry Power play is stupid

I think this whole powerplay thing is stupid . Cricket should be a hard fought game , not a easy game for teams , its giving the batsmen more confidence and the advantage . For example if India is on a flyer on 180-2 in 25 overs with still 10 of the remining power plays overs left , india are more likely to get 380+ in 50 overs . I dont like it , the sub thing is totel crap as well , but it might benifit india for the 5th bowling option . Where is the gud old days when 300+ scores were hard 2 get and chase down.

A quick skim through this thread suggests that the fans don't like the changes. So they're here to stay then.
