Why is Warne in a ODI World XI when hes retired from ODIs?

For what it's worth here is my team Gilchrist Tendulkar Lara Inzamam Dravid Kallis Flintoff Oram Murali Shoaib if fit McGrath Plenty of bowling, stacks of batting but not the greatest fielding side.Maybe Ponting should be in somewhere but i don't know who to drop.

He has deliberately selected a team full of all rounders with a keeper...I'm surprised that nobody was astute enough to pick it up. Giles for a World XI? Come on guys Quote:
ODI's: 62 Wickets: 55 Average: 37.61 Economy Rate: 4.34 runs per over Strike Rate: 51.92 Rachael, I seem to remember you practically calling Lee and Kasprowicz not top level bowlers because they went for 3.5 RPO in New Zealand....now how does that work if you're calling for Giles with those sort of stats. Get real, folks. |

For me: Trescothick +Gilchrist Dravid Tendulkar Inzamam-ul-Haq Symonds Flintoff Pollock (or Shoaib/Harmison/S Jones for more pace) Murali McGrath With Collingwood as the substitute. A competent bowler (shown vs Australia), a determined batsman with some excellent straight shots, and in my opinion the world's best fielder at present. I also think Graeme Smith has been overlooked in the running so far as a batsman capable of some very well controlled boundary-clearing strokes and a solid temperament at the crease. I'm not entirely sure about who the captain would be. Contenders would be McGrath, Flintoff, Inzi, Tendulkar or Gilchrist. I'd be tempted to go for McGrath or Tendulkar (there'd be too much pressure on Gilly as a wicketkeeper-captain-opening bat), even though he has given up the India captaincy in the past.

My ODI XI My ODI team at present would be: Sachin Tendulkar- In my opinon is the greatest ODI batsmen to play the shorter game. His record shows how brilliant he is with 38 centuries to his name at an average of 45 and a strike rate in the 80's. He has shown he can play big innings at a fast rate when he scored 189* against New Zealand. Adam Gilchrist- With his ability to score fast and big and also do a good job with the gloves, Adam Gilchrist is diffinatly in my team. He could be a asset at the top of the order because he would be able to exploit the fielding restrictions. Rahul Dravid- Every ODI side in my opinon should have a batsmen who can anchor the innings. Rahul Dravid is the best of his kind and there is no one better than him in my opinon. What i mean by anchoring the inings id that Rahul Dravid plays until the end, rotating the strike and letting his partners score freely and fast. At an average of 40 he is better than most batmen to play the game, and in my opinon is highly underated. Inzimam-ul-Haq- He is at the moment the most destructive and consistant batsmen in the 50 over format. He can score at such a destructive but can also score at more approitate rate when there is a collapes so he is a asset to the team. Kevin Pietersen- He has made a dream debut to the game since his fisrt match against the Zimababweans in 2004. Since the he has scored massily at a srtioke rate of 95! He could be very helpful to the team lower down the order because he will playing as a pich hitter in my side. Andrew Flintoff- His ability with both bat and ball are very impressive in the 50 over format. He will be able to score freely at his own pace because there will be many batsmen after him. Shahid Afridi-On his day he can be the world most destructive batsmen because he can score centuries with less than 50 balls. His bwoling will also give a vaireiety but he won't be bowled much. He will be able to score as he wishes in my side because i have pleanty of batting options. Shaun Pollock-He is a very good bowler because he is very economical, he has lost a yard in his bowling speed but he still is a good bowler. He can also bat well down the order. Jacob Oram-A handy bat down the order and a very good ODI bowler Chaminda Vaas-One of the legends in the shorter format because of his effective bowling. He is able to move the bowl around at high sppeds and is a very good batsmen down the order. Glenn MacGrath-What can i say he is soo accurate and deadly its rubbish to leave him out, no more comments because it self explanatary.
