Australia vs World XI: Match 3

Well this series is a bit of an anti climax after the Ashes Series.

Goes to show that all the cricketing stars in the world, won't beat a well balanced side like Australia.

Of course this is only the one day stuff, the Test series will be much more important.

Maybe some of the world stars are just beggining to fade.

Post match comments here please.

Lara needs to fire. Will KP be playing in this game?

I'm listening to this on the ABC website at the moment (www.abc.net.au/cricket if you are interested), and there has been a reference to "Power Play". Can someone please tell me what that is all about?

Watson and Hussey played well. Excellent running between the wickets. Pollock was getting frustrated.

Hussey just hit the roof. Dead ball. It would have clearly been a six!

Power play is when the fielding restrictions come in. There are three. The first Power Play is the first 10 overs.. the second and third, however, are at the discretion of the fielding captain. In some cases these have been used "off the cuff" (meaning a change from 15 to 20 overs at the start of the innings)... but what tends to happen when you've got an opener running riot is 10 overs off the cuff.. and then a Power Play at the fall of a wicket (when batsmen might look to consolidate).

Australia make 293 off 50 overs: http://uk.cricinfo.com/db/NEW/LIVE/f...09OCT2005.html

I hear that Flintoff has been taken to hospital for an x ray - any word on if his wrist is ok?

Ah-ha! Thanks for that, Rachael. Basically just something from the marketing boys then to spice up what the ICC Playing Conditions rather boringly describe as "Fielding Restriction Overs". Is this game getting too complicated? Or is it just me?

Well, Flintoff is batting so I guess he's survived that scare. But again I ask: why are England taking chances by putting their front line players in this sideshow?
