Ireland to play England in 2006

Ireland will have a full ODI against England on 13 June 2006, the first time these nations will meet on the cricket field at this level. The match will be at a venue still to be determined in Ireland.

BBC report here.

Should be interesting, will Joyce(if not yet selected by England) play for Ireland. I can just see England winning, I mean it's not like Bangladesh can beat Australia is it?

Yes, also Ireland will be getting proper ODI status seen as they have qualified for the 2007 world cup.

I noticed that Ireland are also in some of the English domestic competitions next year. Is that a first? And will England now be the only country whose domestic season is actually international?

As fair as I am aware it is; I think it allows the teams to get some good match practice from sides that they can be competetive against. Although we won't be expecting miracles from them will we?

Scotland play in the English League don't they, but as a Franchise rather than a Nation. So something like the "Ireland Irons". Scuse the lack of creativity!

Very good Paoli, I think they mainly do it as to fit in with the other counties, seen as they all have the second name thing going on.

From Jauary 2006 all the matches played by developing countries who quality for world cup will be given official status. I think the developing countries should play against each other or some team like Bangladesh and Zimbabwe atleast 10 ODIs each before the world cup.
