| Someone needs to work out a way of banning Sehwag from cricket: he single handedly destroyed an intriguing contest today! |

| Rachael, it was a terribly slow surface. SA aren't use to these conditions, I saw the early bits of the match, the ball wasn't coming on the bat that well. But credit to Pathan and Harbajjan, they bowled well. It's a big advantage to win the toss in these conditions though - there is a lot of dew when bowling second and both Smith and Dravid said at the toss they would have chased if they won. | If you look at the contest when Sehwag came to the crease the SA bowlers were just about coping: the fow ran 1-13 (Tendulkar, 8.1 ov), 2-52 (Gambhir, 16.3 ov). We're used to seeing people make something of a mockery of good bowling... but in the first innings not even a thug like Kemp could make an impression: 28 runs off 59 balls with just 3 boundaries is not usually his style! I guess the difference is partly attributable to the fact that the SA attack was seam-dominated where India were able to deply a spin quartet... but even so... Sehwag managed 7x4 in 16 scoring shots through the covers... plus 4 other boundaries in 21 other scoring shots.. on his way to 77 off 62 balls. Code: V Sehwag 0s 1s 2s 3s 4s 6s Runs Balls RP6B v M Ntini 11 4 0 0 2 0 12 17 4.24 v J Botha 7 6 1 1 5 0 31 20 9.30 v AJ Hall 6 7 2 0 0 0 11 15 4.40 v JL Ontong 1 3 2 0 4 0 23 10 13.80 Total 25 20 5 1 11 0 77 62 7.45 |

| Well done to India for winning what seemed like a very one sided contest. Pollock is certainly better than Nel at the moment. Sehwag batted and bowled very well and it's good to see him get a good score seen as in the last series he never seemed to get going. I though that Kemp for SA had to play the way he did as he did not want to risk an even lower score that SA were going to get. I think that for SA to be able to compete in all conditions they need a top class spin bowler, I know that Boje is not in this series and they are without Gibbs as well but on Indian wickets you need very good spin bowlers and SA just don't seem to have one.

| i think you're being a bit harsh on botha, he's on his maiden tour - a spinner in india. he took a wkt in his first outing and then in this game he started off with a decent maiden and the second over was also tight culminating in an edge for four (which kallis reacted slowly to i believe). - it was downhill from there as shewag took over but he's taken a liking to some very good bowling in his career. i have not seen botha but i would say it must be encouraging for SA at the very least. llet's see if he turns out to be anything.. |
