Lara got his double hundred and is looking very good now, shame that none of the other batsmen could stick around with Lara and give the WI a better position. 12 runs to get the record!!

Up comes Lara's 200 off 261 balls with 20 fours. A great knock. He won't have time to get AB's record today, but here's hoping for it early tomorrow. Hat's off to Brian Lara (again)!

And at stumps West Indies have a very creditable 352-7, with Lara 202no and Powell 7no. Brian Lara needs a further 11 runs to equal AB's all time test runs record, 12 to overhaul it.

Good old Brian Lara! Scoring lots of runs again in a Test Match that means absolutely nothing, just like his 400 at St Johns. The series has been lost and Lara has doen nothing, now it's over he starts to play. How good for the team he is!

Without him they'd not have passed 200 so actually he is quite good for them

Let us not mention the number of poor decisions against him in the previous test matches, shall we??

But then again, your comments are those of someoone who is ignorant of facts.

The 400 must have been so grating on your soul that the only thing you can say is that most of the 31 of his centuries are in dead test matches which mean nothing.

When Lara scored two centuiries in two Tests against Pakistan this year, did they mean nothing??

When he scored a century in his first 2 Tests vs South Africa this year, did they mean nothing?

When he scored 120 to help WI beat Bangladesh after drawing the first Test, did that mean nothing??

When he scored 2 centuries vs SA (1st and 3rd Test), did they mean nothing??

Did his match winning 191 vs Zimbabwe mean nothing??

Did his double hundred in the first and match winning 80 not out in the 2nd test vs Sri Lanka mean nothing??

Did his 110 in the first Test and then 91 and 122 in the 2nd vs Australia, to add to his two fifties in the world record run chase mean nothing??

Did his 688 runs in 3 Tests vS Sri Lanka mean nothing??

I could go on.

But let us relate everything back to the 400, shall we??

More pleased than I was with the umpire's decisions to stop his contribution prematurely.

I agree Ninjaman, Lara has made some incredible contributions to the WI side at times when he was needed the most. One thing for you here, lets take Bradman. Did he ever get 400?

I thought in the last over that Powell was trying to give his wicket away some what. Trying to play some shots, hopefully Lara can do what Inzamam is good at and bat for a long time with the tail.

Vrock7, Powell was playing like an idiot.

A few months ago, cricinfo did a piece which showed that Lara is statistically the best to have batting with the tail.

So these lower order guys need to stay with him. Now I've said Lara is bound to fall early

Sadly, they think if they face 50 balls but only get 2 runs, people will curse them. They think they have to emulate proper batsmen.

As for your Bradman comment. Well I'm not going to go there. The Don was the don.

I must say Bravo and Ramdin,. both Trinis like Lara, have taken the great man's counsel wisely and at 22 and 20 respectively are playing beyond their years.
