I hope Lara remains not out in the end.

He's just a legend this man, never ceases to amaze me. People can say what ever about his 400, but not many people (read zero) have accidently made as many runs as him, so he has to be some good. I'd pay good money to watch Lara bat.

I did pay good money 10 years ago. He played terribly, but still got 80-odd. I'm starting to think he's the best batsman of his time, better even than Tendulkar. He's had his mental flaws from time to time, but always comes back with big scores. His stats are incredible - 8 scores of 200+, the only man to get 400 in a test the only man to get 500 in 1st class, and many great innings in a team that has been dominated by the opposition. Strangely, I don't think the West Indies will really start to recover until Lara has gone. Too many young players are happy leaving the hard work to him, instead of learning how to take responsibility for their team's performance.

You've introduced me to a new word there, pal. What on earth does 'blastic' mean?

I think that Tendulkar and Lara are certainly the two best batsmen of this generation. Lara and Tendulkar both excel in different areas od batting. There are too many different things you can judge them upon. Therefore I think it is purely down to the person as to whom is better.

Lara's mental capacities to make a big hundred are unequalled since the days of Bradman, Ponsford and Hammond. Two awful decisions ended prospective bigger innings in the first two tests. Yes, his feet movement is a little iffy at times but who can slaughter an attack for so long and score so massively than this guy. An absolute pleasure to watch, even against Australia.

Lara has been a great player for a number of years and the fact he will break Border's record having played 35 less matches is proof of how good he is.

Lara made 226 and he has just shown why he is so good. Lets hope the WI can make a really good game of this. A second 100 for Lara in the 2nd innings?

Brian Lara is a genius. Unfortunately, the glory days with the ball are gone and it would be painful for the Windies fans to see Edwards getting smacked around.

Good to see Langer getting back in to some form, his off-side shots have been absolutely brilliant. He may have been in danger if he had've not got a score in this test.

But, yesterday was one of the few days where all Aussies were happy to let the opposition have some rope. After all, it's Brian Lara. It's not every day we see him bat.

BUT: I still firmly believe Lara can go until he is forty or forty one, he's never really had any injury worth noting (barring that bout of hepatitis, but that is considered illness really) and hope that he can come down under again.

Aus are 381/8

Bravo's resurgence continues with a 5 fer. However Aus have been 8 down for ages and MacGill is still batting. They are letting a good situation slide here.

I paid money to see Lara bat once too. He made 9 I think in Clontarf. Chanderpaul made a ton, Arthurton made 90odd not out and Richie Richardson hit some massive sixes.

And then Ireland hit off the runs against some very friendly bowling.

I remember seeing Courtney Walsh with his legs spread over about 3 seats in front of him and thinking, damn that guy is tall.

Was only about 10 at the time mind.
