| I think you'll find Udal a different proposition in the one dayers, it's more his game - I think he'll play, and Blackie could be the super sub.

| Really? I could have seen him getting hammered by Yousuf and Inzi, and Afridi when he returns from his ban. |

| I understand he's been working hard on his fitness, and has turned into a decent slip fielder on all acounts. In theory, he's spot on as the barn storming super-sub, but as we're in pakistan and due a dust bowl, I'd pick him as the spinner/smasher. Oh yes, and vaughan missing - hardly the end of the world is it ? He's pants as a ODI bat !

| I go along with that, RBLC: Michael Vaughan will be no loss to the ODI team. In fact, I'd go further: he should retire from ODI cricket. He's never been that much good at it, and I think some of the "style" which he presently applies to the longer form of the game is reflective of what he tries to do at the one-day level. In fact, every test innings seems to be played at the moment with the attitude that he's only got ten or twelve overs to play and needs to punch up the scoreboard significantly in that time. In short, he's run out of the patience and grit that he requires to return to success as a test batsman. Concentrate on the tests would be my advice, and let someone else worry about the ODI team.

| Udal got caned today, I'd definitely play Blackwell instead. |

| Ah yes, I kept quiet about that one!

| So you agree? :P |

| I think Inzi, Yousuf et al, in the tests, played him almost as an ODI bowler. He certainly went at an ODI rate for large periods anyway. I feel Blackwell has more class to him as an all-rounder who can genuinely hit the ball out of the ground and turn it. He showed a clever aspect in his bowling this season in the games I saw him play for Somerset in both Totesport and Twenty20 games. |

| Blackwell really does look a far better bowler than he was a few years ago - I remember seeing KP hit him for about 25 from 2 overs a couple of seasons back. Since then he appears to have learnt some subtle variations and added to a little experience he has become very useful. His batting is dangerous, he hits a very long ball (as they say). His fielding isn't great but we can hide him - we don't have too many othrs to hide these days, especially since Vaughan isn't going to be there! |
