The supporting feature

New Zealand require another 20 runs with 2 wickets and 12 balls remaining to save some face in the series against Australia

And they got them all off a seven ball over to win by two wickets with an over to spare. Well done to the Kiwis. Now, back to the main event ...

Shoaib Akhtar seems to have one end nicely pinned down, which is just what England really don't need at this stage.

311-4. England are on for a masive score here.

But it's a flat pitch with short boundaries. I reckon Pakistan will be in with a shout if they start well.

England's batting lineup looks balanced and very dangerous today. Strauss playing the role Vaughan should have perfectly and Kp and Flintoff with license to smash the ball around when they get in.

England should win, but I wouldn't guarantee it unless they take a couple of early wickets to unsettle Pakistan.

England's bowling attack isn't very reliable in one dayers. Flintoff will probably bowl quite tidily but the rest could go all around the park.

What whacking by Pietersen!! He effortlessly hits sixes in the leg side. But I thought he was over doing it, coming down the track for every ball and consequently getting stumped. Strauss and Flintoff played really well. Still I think Pakistan have a chance to win this game. It is not beyond them. They have Inzamam who relishes chases like these. And there's also Yousuf and Younis to back him.

Good effort by England - nice to see the batsmen doing well. I thought Strauss timed his innings very well indeed, and Piterson was impressive also. Good partnerships all the way through the innings were the key today - the smallest partnership being 40 for the 1st wicket, which is pretty respectable.

If England can bowl tightly in the 1st ten overs, they will be fast taking the game away from Pakistan, as the run-rate will shoot up.
