Indeed it is. An unexpected series lead for England who win the first match by 42 runs. Good batting and bowling performances, to judge from the card, and, it has to be said, a shocking collapse from Pakistan who lose six wickets in twenty balls for 23 runs.

Great win by England.Taken us all by surprise. Before the test series both sets of fans expected Pakistan to win the one day series and England to win the test series. We could be wrong on both counts.Shows what we all know about cricket

One swallow doesn't make a summer, Greg. I still wouldn't put the house on a series win for England.

Depends what happens in the next match. If Pakistan win it they will go into the final 3 strengthened by Afridi's return. If England win it, it will be probably asking a bit much to come back from 2-0 down. Flintoff and KP's innings shows the value of big impact hitters in these games.

England used the supersub much better than Pakistan as well. Kaneria was a strange selection to start with, why on earth we had a non-batting offspinner as a sub is beyond me. Well done to Liam Plunkett though, looks like a very decent bowler and should probably be given a starting role next time.

England have to remember, though, that they were 1-0 up against South Africa last time out and they lost that series 4-1. We had a great day today and Pakistan didn't, but I wouldn't reckon on another collapse from Pakistan like today's. And before that started - even part way through it - Pakistan were well in the game and could easily have taken it. I still give Pakistan the edge in this series.

We had an almightly line-up his match though, with Geraint Jones, Vikram Solanki and Blackwell not even getting a bat, all definite quick scorers and potential to get some good scores... Even if we collapse to 67-5 we have some great bats in and left to come in.
What a line-up Tresco has pulled outta the hat! Great bowling line-up as well using the supersub brilliantly

KP played well... but Flintoff was a mess: Boycott was really laying into him on TMS as he was slogging balls that needed nurdling... he ended up allowing 25 dot balls.... that's a dot ball to nearly 40% of deliveries faced... and for quite a few of the runs he scored he'd really got no idea where the ball had gone.

Collingwood showed the way far more effectively: 7 dot balls from 27 (25%)... and 34 runs at a strike rate of 7.56. Where Flintoff seemed to be letting his ego get the better of him and ended up letting Shoaib dominate him... Collingwood took the speedster apart.

Compare the player-vs-player stats:

For all the attention that Shahid Afridi might get... a great ODI innings is more likely to come from the control and touch of Yousuf and Inzi.
