Razzaq 42 off 13 balls. Anderson goes for 23 off one over.

Pakistan 353-6, which is a big one to chase. England may well miss Pietersen, but presumably Ian Bell will now be substituted for one of the bowlers. I'll be back in a couple of hours to see how we're doing.

From England's point of view, thank goodness the World Cup isn't in Pakistan. 353 by Pakistan is the highest ODI score against England. England would have to beat the record highest chase to win.

Can I suggest a simple bowling strategy against Pakistan? Bowl full length and yorkers all day. Vary the width outside off-stump and vary the pace. Flintoff got Insi out with a full length delivery on the stumps. If the batsman doesn't play straight there's a good chance it will crash into the stumps.

Pakistan had no trouble getting good length and short balls away for boundaries. With this strategy you will definitely keep the total below 300 and probably take a few wickets with bowled and run outs.

At Hove the batsman drove and the fielder dove.

Top effort by Pakistan, they've always had a good one day side but usually lacked consistency, since Woolmer took over though they seem to have added this to their armoury.

I'm not sure how much is a poor effort by England and how much is just good batting by Pakistan, bit of both as usual I suspect. I really don't see how England can get this total, considering how poorly we've been batting for the majority of the tour, it's not completely impossible, but it's going to take one of the best innings ever seen in a odi and i'm not sure any of them have it in them. Still, as they say in Lancashire, whilst there's a Freddy, there's a way

I suspect Pakistan will come out and bowl 6 90mph yorkers an over and have as all ends up in no time, just have to hope our bowlers are watching and learn something for the next two games.

Thank You Bob and Inzamam for having Yasier Arafat as super sub . They can now sub him in for what salman Butt or other.

Pakistan have this match they got what 7 bowlers. England need Marcus to strike.

That is why i think England have an chance of doing well in the world cup.We have the sort of bowlers to exploit the conditions in West Indies but other nations would have more chance if the tournament was in Pakistan,India or Sri Lanka.Pakistan are the best equipped of the subcontinent sides to do well as they have a balanced bowling line up with three quality all-rounders.
As for today i think England will be bowled out for 293

Exclamation Shoiab Akhtar and Rana Naved

If Shoiab and Rana can pick up 2,3 quick wickets England better hope that Flintoff scores 150

Cool Karachi

This is the best cricket ground in Pakistan I personaly think. There should be at least 2 ODI's here, but England I dont know why wants only one . Look at the crowd they are so loud and when afridi and INZI came the were yelling.

David Gower suggested, tongue-in-cheek, that England's strategy should be to hit fours and sixes and take no risks!

Realistically we need to hope that atleast one batter (preferably Trescothick or Flintoff) gets a big hundred, that we can keep wickets in hand towards the end and hope for a quickfire 30 or 40 of 19-20 balls etc. from three or four of the lower middle order

Without KP this score is very daunting
