Twenty-20 international tournement?

Ian botham once mentioned, there should be a 20, 30 over tournements at an international level...

i know there already have been suggestions about global tournements on this forum, what do you think?

Within 10 years there will be a Twenty20 one for sure, I can only see Twenty20 getting more and more popular. However I think if they do make a "Twenty20 World Cup" it may see the end of the ICC Champions Trophy.

Well cricket never was boring for me.......but the shorter version can be interesting in many ways.

BTW, what they are experimenting at the international level today is something that I have played all my life. When I was a student, we used to get together after school and play 20 over matches. The international teams can come to me for a few tips ;-)

well if you think about it, 5 day cricket has some fans, the cricket lovers like me and you, limited overs have more fans, yet people still find 50 over games too long, so the ICC is bound to increase crowds by introducing a shorter, more attacking style of cricket, like Twenty-20.

Surely the twenty over matches will make their own space and i dont think will ever replace the other two versions. It should definitely be tried.

20/20

If there is a 20/20 match there should be 4 bowlers and 4 batsman [including a keeper]. To make it much more fun.
Lots of BIG HITTING

I wouldn't go for 8 a side. If you want the smaller teams you would be better opting for the super sixes, although this is not seen as a major event. Keep it 11-a-side. I would like to see an international tournament, much more open.

20 twenty should be thrown in the trash along with super subs.

Its a glorified slog a thon, might as well set up a bowling machine and play who can hit the most sixes.

India dont seem to be very interested in this format. I hear they refused an ECB request for a Twenty20 game for the upcoming tour.
