I've chosen Mark Waugh, as I did in the original thread... but I really don't think you can have Barry Richards as an ODI all-time opener. He didn't play any games at all- not one. If you include him, then what's to stop you choosing Don Bradman, or Miller or Proctor?

The best limited overs opener of all time is Tendulkar by a country mile.

Average of 48 in that position with 38 centuries- yep. I'm surprised he didn't make the list.

By the way, Dean Jones wasn't an opener.

Interesting to see that Tendulkar is missing from that list. He is the best option for an ODI opener.

Mathew Hayden as an opener.

I have personally voted for Mathew Hayden as he is one player ,who is cool, level headed and can adopt to the various opening pace attacks from any world class bowler. It is a very rare thing to see Mathew Hayden getting out in the initial overs. He is a dependable opener , who gives the initial momentum to the team.
