i was just kidding buddy
but the match was far from farce, it was definitely one of the toughest pitch for batsmen (worser than kanpur) you could get from an Indian ground
plus the sudden light failure and resuming of play made the match more than interesting

The IPL has been interesting thus far. The standard of bowling in general has been well below the batting (as is so often expected). There have been a couple of mismatches including the first match where one man ended the game as a contest.

What happened to the pitch at Eden Gardens? True, it provided an interesting match but it sure wasn't safe. I'd have worried had Brett Lee or anyone quick been on show!

What happened in Mohali? Why did no-one turn up?

Also, do Delhi and Jaipur appear to have fairly poor sides or was it just me?

As mentioned earlier, the burn out issue seems to have disappeared. The likes of Matthew Hayden have gone quiet now.

Well to tell the truth the north( including punjab) is far behind other region when it comes to popularity of cricket. And Mohali has always been hard to fill.

As for Delhi, i dont think delhi are at all a poor side. I would say they would be good enough for top4.

They've sure started brightly today. McGrath and Asif looks a good new bal partership! Not convinced about the Deccan side, suspect their batting might rely too heavily on Gilchrist and Symonds (Afridi's so hit and miss he doesn't count!). Laxman IMO isn't the best of the Indians to have as headline act in this form of the game.

As for delhi, they have taken apart deccan chargers. won inside 13 overs. Sehwag 94 in 41 balls hitting symonds for 30 runs in one over. They surely look like tittle contenders to me.

I have to agree with you on that NE
Laxman, kaif, jaffer ,dravid plus some other guys should not be playing this format of the game
i guess just because they are international players and to attract local crowd they've been pulled in

Delhi seems to be having a formidable bowling attack and also there batting looks quite strong

I think the best part about delhi's batting is everyone is used to playing along each other. And they do not need time to gel together like other teams.
We some when world played australia 2 years ago and got beaten 3-0 and 1-0, its not just about having the players, one has to gel them together as a team as well.

agreed wilyoldfox,
this is why we could not see a good show by both hyderabad and punjab teams despite having great names in their side
the success lies in the better gelling which was missing in both the above teams and to a certain extent in Bangalore team as well
looking forward to tonight's match between my home team Vs Mumbai Indians(expect heavy scoring on this benign chennai pitch)
