IPL Match 1- Royal Challengers v Knoght riders

An amazing openign ceremony, followed by a hurricane in the form of mccullum who scored 158 of 73 balls including 14 sixes. And then the excellent bowling by ishant sharma and ganguly. A perfect start for the knight riders.
I was amazingly impressed by the it. What do u think?

I still think that name is the best ever in world sport!
And nice work by McCullum he's in freakish form at the moment not that it really matters.

Hehe, agree with the name - just shouts out cool, a reason why i chose to get "McCullum" on the back of my ordered NZ shirt ahead of Vettori, my 2 fave players.

What a knock, sounds like a belter. So badly wish i could view good highlights (actually, considering its a 20-20 the whole damn thing), easily dispatched Cameron Whites previous 20-20 record score by 20 odd runs.

Whole league thingy, every game is screened on setanta sports Shame its not on sky sports eh..

Great start for the tournament
Happy for my home team chennai super kings good victory against punjab
i know its bit too early to say but i feel after 3 matches it seems the weeker ones will be bangalore and rajasthan teams
they does not boast any T20 kind of players(espcially bangalore one which is full of test players ex: jaffer, dravid, kumble, kallis etc)
expecting a good fight between kolkata and hyderabad tomorrow

(Note: hurray! its my 400th Post)

I dont think bangalore are at all weak, infact i take them as one of the favourites for the tournament. One match doesnt tell us anything. I think the missed bracken and some of their other foreign players. As for jaipur, i would think they would be the contenders of the team that comes last. Neither do they have good foreign players nor indian local talent.

Well, Dale Steyn and Nathan Bracken should prove a handful. Noffke and Khan could both be handy. The additional bowling options offered by batsmen like Kallis and Cameron White should be handy. The attack knocks spots off that of the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Boucher is a clean enough hitter of the ball, as is Cameron White. Chanderpaul is capable of playing almost any kind of innings. Dravid and Kallis add a bit of class: if the IPL ever gets around to serving up a pitch that's fit for a game of cricket (where the bowlers can routinely command respect) that trio should prove very useful.

What we now need is a decent pitch or two: pitches where hitting through the line without getting to the pitch of the ball is pretty much suicidal.

to be honest rachael, all the three pitches we've seen sofar were quite a good ones for batting(even though rajasthan and bangalore failed to score over 150 on them) i doubt there will be any change
i expect a belter of a track at chennai(courtesy-relaid turf)
same goes for jaipur(may be a bit slow and low)
hyderabad's new wicket is quite hard so one can expect a good carry for the keeper(means good for batting too)
mumbai is the only odd pitch out there(off late very difficult one for bastmen in any form of the game)
Still i feel bangalore is not a real contender for the final four
my picks are hyderabad, kolkata,Delhi, chennai(punjab could be the dark horse)

again its very early days for any kind of prediction-its only my HG, i might be wrong though

All that money on players and they forget to pay the electricity bill.

I am bit surprised to see a purist like Greg following IPL and making fun about it
i would rather expect him to be in his county/test match forums talking about the Stanford-clarke 100 million USD plans and pieterson and rest of the english players sudden amnesia of Burnout issues
anyhow, Thanx for the joke Greg
