World Cup 2007 Final Groupings Announced http://aus.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/W..._schedule.html I'm not going to post the whole schedule here as it'll turn out screwed up, though I'll post the groups. Group A: Australia (1), South Africa (5), Scotland (12), Holland (16). All matches staged in St.Kitts and Nevis. Group B: Sri Lanka (2), India (8), Bangladesh (11), Bermuda (15). All matches staged in Trinidad and Tobago. Group C: New Zealand (3), England (7), Kenya (10), Canada (14). All matches staged in St. Lucia. Group D: Pakistan (4), West Indies (6), Zimbabwe (9), Ireland (13). All matches staged in Jamaica. I don't see the logic in four groups. It lessens the excitement and also means that the eight test teams are Monty's for qualification through to the next round. The old system was MUCH more exciting. Two of the 'Big 8' were knocked out; or as it was last time around, there were four; namely South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies and England. Also, it means we get four interesting games in the group stages, obviously the games between the teams ranked 1-8. And, the hosts have got a very favourable draw. The way it should work is that if South Africa get the No.1 team, the Windies should have the No.2 team, England are right in having the No.3 team and India should have the No.4 team. I don't really know; sure, there'll be some competition in the final rounds, but the good thing about the old system is that it allowed the minnows to have a good six or seven games, give some teams a scare; or maybe even an upset, before leaving the World stage all the better for it. At this stage, I see some potential upsets. The team I believe will win the match is in bold. Zimbabwe vs. Ireland (If Ed Joyce plays, their chances are raised substantially) New Zealand vs. England Sri Lanka vs. India Scotland vs. Holland Ireland vs. West Indies (Could this be the big one of the tournament?) Anyhow, I'll be keeping a keen eye on the Zimbabwe games, hoping that we win at least one match; I think we could have a show for two in the World Cup. We might be able to knock off the hosts, but I think we should worry about accounting for Ireland confidently and early.

I would like to see Bermuda beat Bangladesh!! That should be an exciting match!

| I think the Pakistan vs West Indies is rather a silly way to start the tournament. It should be the best game there on offer in my opinion, ie Sri Lanka/India or Australia/South Africa. In saying that though, it probably makes sense to have the hosts kick off the tournament. You guys don't really seem to be giving the ol Windies much of a chance. I'd say in the ODI arena, they are far more competetant, and hoping that they sort out their contract woes, they might be a force to be reckoned with.

I think the system they have set-up for the World cup is better than the last one. To me the top teams have more of a chance to get to the semi's. The top 2 teams in each division go through to the next round and then all the teams play against each other. So in the end there is only 6 countries that you would not play against out of the starting 16 teams. In the second round you play 7 games and the top four teams on points are through to the semi's. That will be harder - compared to Australia's last run to the semi's in the last Wolrd Cup. The added plus for the team that finishes on top after the 2nd round is that they get to play the 4th placed team. It means that a bad performance on one day will not take a team out of the running and the best teams will be in the semi's. I think pool C & D have the worst of the run as the 2 top teams have to play against each other as there first game. While Pool A & B have warm up games before they meet each other. With the points earned in the first round counting towards the second round the teams that came second in the Pools will have to play catch up against the other teams.

Once the Ashes are over... I'm going all Bermudan!! Although I have no affiliation with the country, aside from them being a state of ours, but i do love the country: ![]()

My uncle could play for Bermuda. He was born there. The fact he is in his 50's would probably hamper him but he qualifies.
