Lou Vincent out for a brilliant 71, great display of hitting shown. Pity it had to end now though

score 1/96

From cricinfo: "New Zealand require another 15 runs with 2 wickets and 10 balls remaining" - quite a finish.....

Edit: Lee's final over looks to have been awful... and it's still not over - NZ in control now....required rate just one a ball...
Code:
48.5 Lee to McCullum, (noball) two runs, short of length on the stumps,
McCullum swings it to deep mid-wicket but not a well-timed shot
and they pick a couple of runs
No-ball signalled by umpire Bowden as there was only 3 players
        inside the circle!
48.4 Lee to Vettori, one run, glided to thirdman region, 10 runs off 8
        balls
48.3 Lee to Vettori, FOUR, good length ball around the off stump,
moving away a bit, Vettori goes back and taps it late behind
point, ball races away to the fence, clever shot!
48.2 Lee to McCullum, one run, short delivery on the off stump, McCullum
smashes flat in the air, one bounce to deep cover
48.2 Lee to McCullum, wide: no run, bouncer high and over the batsman,
        McCullum ducks underneath
48.2 Lee to McCullum, (noball) FOUR, beamer straight into the leg stump,
McCullum tries to avoid it, gets the edge and ball rolls down to
        thirdman fence
48.1 Lee to McCullum, two runs, slower delivery pitched up on the middle
stump, McCullum mistimes his hit, ball loops over the bowler

What a shambles....

Code:
49.5 Lewis to Mills, no run, All Over! pitched up on the off stump,
driven back to the bowler, Lewis misfields on his follow-through
and ball loops up, Vettori goes for the single and Lewis quick to
get to the ball, dives and takes off the bails

New Zealand 320/10, Partnership of 1
       KD Mills run out (Lewis) 0 (1b 0x4 0x6)

49.4 Lewis to Vettori, one run, fuller length ball, pushed to short mid-
        wicket region
49.3 Lewis to McCullum, no run, Run Out! good length, driven straight to
Clarke at point, they take off for a dangerous single and Clarke
        hits at the bowlers end

New Zealand 319/9, Partnership of 24
BB McCullum run out (MJ Clark) 49 (33b 5x4 0x6)

49.2 Lewis to Vettori, one run, yorker outside off stump, Vettori drops
it to short cover region and crosses over for a single, 4 off 4
        needed
49.1 Lewis to McCullum, one run, pitched up, driven down to long-off,
looking for a second but the fielder moves in quickly and cuts it
        off

6 runs needed off the last over, Lewis is given the ball

Oh what a great match! Absolutely Great performance by the kiwis...really gutted after the match! Some good cricket...great fielding, good batting and some good depth bowling! Well the reason why Aussies are the best is "they fight till the last ball of the match"..and they showed it today why they are the best in the world right at the moment!

Good last over by the debutant lewis ... good knock by cairns& vincent...some quality cricket!

Brett Lee went from Heroe to Zero but he always gives a 100% making him a fantastic bowler to watch!

Great Match!

It was indeed a great match... Tragic that it had to end with a NZ loss though . I really wanted them to win... It was so intense

Crap! I dont believe this! Life sure is unfair. Dont know whether NZL will be able to repeat this performance but well played! If the top order had a little more to contribute....if Bond was there......man I still cant believe this...

once again wellington pulls out a blinder - i don't know why they play games anywhere else. and a good lesson to other grounds of how you don't need a drop-in pitch to be a dual purpose venue

amazing game, and a well behaved crowd, despite the first three rows not actually turning out to be empty (i imagine they'd presold most of those seats)

Poor attendance....but apparently there were more arrests than Auckland!!.............er...but non for chuckin` stuff on the field thankfully.

I see Brett Lee suffered a few breathing problems...and is going home friday.

Thought Aussie had it in the bag all the way thru despite NZs heroics.................right up until the last Brett Lee offer, which was a shocker...the full toss, followed by a daft short`un...gifted NZ 6 runs without a ball counting,...he did look knackered...maybe he had a reason with the breathing...but it was poor bowling.

After that over , 6 off the last ...well for the first time the kiwis were on top.........well played Lewis though...& er...Clarke with a fine throw.

This has got to be one of the worst bowling attacks in aussie one day history...now minus Lee for the last`un..... NZ hasn`t a better chance of nicking a game................ however their bowling attack ain`t much better.
