Rowan,

Why - I am not a great fan of Twenty20's for the same reason as many have stated but

1. They do bring in people to Cricket grounds (especially in domestic cricket - which is generally very unsupported)
2. The Crowd demographic is different - kids and more women - than the usual Cricket games
3. The players seem to enjoy them - they can play Cricket with a smile on their face - something that seems lost in many games
4. Cricket is an entertainment form - so why not give people a good 3 hours of fun
5. A whole game can be enjoyed after work - finish work head to the Cricket - watch a game then have a damn fine curry afterwards - why stop that?

Now I would never want Twenty20's to replace ODI's and Tests, thirty years ago people said ODI's would kill Test cricket, but it hasn't. Twenty20 for me takes Cricket to a new generation, hopefully once they enjoyed a game they can get hooked, want to play and also want to watch Test cricket.
