I do not believe watching the Aussies pile on runs against the hapless Lanakns can be called entertainment by any standards. The same story is going to be repeated against the Proteas.

It is more entertaining if there is an even contest, even if less runs are scored. A match which can go either way during 70-80 overs of its duration is definately more entertaining than watching the Aussies score 3330 plus and put the other team out of contention.

It was different against NZ on the smaller grounds where it is possible to chase big targets. Plus the Aussies were missing their top bowlers in NZ.

I saw the first 20 overs of the Sri Lankan reply, but turned it off after being bored by repeatedly viewing the finer points of Michael Vandort's forward defence - he looked clueless in terms of scoring runs at anything more than a snail's pace. Why wasn't Sangakkara sent in at 3 as per normal?

I was unsure as to why they did this too Colly. I suppose they wanted to get a solid player in to get the innings of to steady start without the major loss of wickets, a little difficult though when you have Brett Lee bowling swing the ball in at 90+mph, Vandort had no reply when Lee was swinging the ball, well he did, he just missed it!

I suspect that we will see much of the same throughout the rest of the series. Although SA vs. SL could be a little more interesting with SA having lost some of their players. This will atleast give SL a small chance.

Maybe they should open with Vandort and Murali then? One blocker and one out-and-out slogger.

Well, they might as well try!

More seriously, Sangakkara should always come in at 3, or maybe even open. Dilshan should be in at 4 or 5 - in my opinion he is turning into one of their best ODI players, and definitely is their number one all-rounder already. I greatly admire his style of play.

I hope South Africa go well against the Aussies this afternoon. I think if south africa are chasing, they will have to restrict the Aussies to 270 or less, or else they won't have a hope.

Aussies are 3 down for 30 odd. I reckon they will still score in excess of 300 in the 50 overs!

No chance of getting 300!!! As if. They are now 6-138 after 35 overs. At one stage they were 6-70, but Brett Lee and Mike Hussey have pulled it back nicely for the aussies.

Last over Jacques Kallis bowled a brilliant bouncer to Lee which hit him on the jaw. Great work!!

Let us wait for 50 overs to be completed - as long as Hussey is there, I will bet on the Aussies scoring in excess of 300.

This is certainly not the first time in a VB series that the Aussie tailenders with the help of one main batsman are taking the match away from the opposition. As for South Africans, once again as in the test matches they cannot dismiss the Aussie tailenders.
