VB Series 2005-06

The VB series kicks off this Friday with Australia playing the Sri Lankans.

It is very clear who is going to win this match. After their miserable performance in India and NZ, in my opinion, the Lankans do not have any chance of even putting up a decent fight to the resurgent Aussies.

I think it will be a very good series... In a tour game, South Africa have beaten Queensland quite convincingly, and i hope to see them put up a challenge to the Aussies

I doubt it, they way the Aussies are playing in ODI they are in a league of their own.

Predictions

I think this VB series would be won by Australia. The other two teams are nowhere close to Australia. I wonder whether the Srilankans would win atleast 1 game, they are going to be hammered as their premier batsman Jayasuriya is missing from the squad. Actually, no 2 teams in this competition are equally matched. Australia is at the top and then there is South Africa, who wont face any difficulty beating the Lankans. At the bottom of the hierarchy are the Srilankans.

Yup Sri Lanka is not in the right shape right now. First of all I could not understand why they decided to play without Jayasuriya in the test series in India....He is the key abtaman in the side and must always be a part of the team. I dont know what team they are playing for the vb series. Is Arnold there?

I don't follow sri lankan cricket in any detail, but what has happened to them over the past year or so? they used to be a stunning odi side and even when they dipped their form a bit they were always competitive, but just recently they seem to just get hammered and not even contest the matchs. Great shame as Sri Lanka are a fantastic side to watch when they get going.

Jayasuria's form had dipped quite dramatically and he was not proving to be consistent enough at the top of the order, if I remember rightly he had a slight niggle in his shoulder as well.

Sri Lanka just got crushed by Victoria, so no doubt Sri Lanka will struggle.

And now Nel is returning home because of a foot injury. As it is the South Africans were going to struggle against the Aussies, but now the contest will be even more lopsided.
Another boring Vb series appears to be on the offing.

Not necessarily boring with the aussies batting. A few 300+ scores would be good entertainment, although I can see Australia winning all of their games.
