| I'm assuming you mean current, but I'll do a current and historical list as well: Current Andrew Hall - Seems like he's had a tough time, he's not guarenteed a place in SAF line up, and he's been shot twice! This guy deserves a break! Daniel Vettori - He looks like the guy from Stargate. Lou Vincent - He pummelled the Zimbabweans to all parts. What a man! Scott Styris - He looks like George C Scott (Patton:Lust for Glory, Dr Strangelove etc.) what is it with Kiwis looking like film stars? Rana Naved ul Hasan - I love his tenacity. He proves that you can be a successful international cricketer without bowling like an express train Graeme Smith (contraversial, I know!) - Nothing to do with his recent spell of bad form. Just great to watch when he's in form, if you can stuff his mouth up from talking rubbish! Russel Arnold - Not entirely sure why I like this chap. A bit of a bits n pieces chap. Boeta Dippenaar - Just love the way he looks like a rabbit caught in the headlights whenever he's batting. His innings of 40 off 100ish balls in the recent ODI versus Australia almost had me in hysterics! What was he up to? Danish Kaneria - Plays for Essex. A little eccentric. Should calm his appealing down a touch though! Shane Warne - Lets face it, something's bound to happen when Warney's about! Historical Curtley Ambrose - Despite him despatch English batsman with alarming regularity, that big grin he shot when he'd just beaten the bat by a whisker will be forever synonymous with the English summer. Malcolm Marshall - An all time great, but always seemed a really nice guy to boot. One of those players who could empty the bar when he came on to bowl. Viv Richards - Another West Indian; but so many of them have been wonderful to watch over the years. The archetypal swashbuckling Windie! Waqar Younis - One of those players where something was bound to happen when he came on to bowl. Those inswinging yorkers he bowled were simply breathtaking Graham Gooch - Probably not the most popular of choices, but as an Essex fan, Graham Gooch was one of my heroes - and he still is! Richie Benaud - OK, so he's no longer the greatest leg spinner in history, and he hasn't been for a long time, but he was an exemplary captain, fabulous bowler and useful batsman. His commentating just adds an extra layer JWHT Douglas - Another Essex boy, and one of English sports' greatest all rounders. A huge man, who batted like a brick wall (hence his nickname Johnny Won't Hit Today), he also boxed for England! Unfortunately, drowned trying to rescue has father from the sea Ken Rutherford - OK, there wasn't much spectacular about Ken's batting, or the way he played. He was a tough man though, he'd get hit, and hit, and hit some more and still bat to keep the Kiwis in the game Barry Richards - A sublime batsman to watch in his pomp in county cricket, one of the biggest casualties to cricket due to apartheid Peter Such - Well, it had to be didn't it! That camp little leap after release on every ball he bowled in anticipation of a wicket, despite in all liklihood the ball having been despatched to the boundary! Genius!! |
