Is Michael Hussey Australia's new Michael Bevan?

Michael Hussey has had some incrediable innings of late, the way he bats is very similar to retired oneday champion batsman Michael Bevan. Can Hussey be as good a oneday player as Bevan was?

I think hes better than Bevan, he's an excellent timer of the ball and a fast scorer who can pinch runs through gap's no matter where and is capable of smashing to and over the boundary if required. Bevan was a great player no doubt, but from what I remember of watching him over the years, he does his best work under pressure towards the end of the innings, Hussey can do that plus anchor the innings if needed (as shown with his partnership with Brett Lee recentley)

He is better than Bevan as he doesn't have a chronic weakness against pace bowling and is more of a team player than Bevan.

Hussey-the new Bevan? He seems more like the new Oz- Superman! Just have a look at his ODI average! The way he's scoring runs in Tests! And what consistency! When I watch this guy bat I feel theres no damn way we would get to see a new world champ next year! Hate to admit it but Australia will surely defend their title next year, without much trouble!

Hussey's all-round batting is superb, he can nudge the ball around in the middle overs and can then blast it out the ground at the end. Superb batsmen although it's a shame that he's 30, he could have a very high scoring career for Australia.

I think he might have been similar to Andrew Struaas, both wouldn't have made the same impact they are making now if they were picked in their twentys.

He looks excellent when he is batting, he is able to do anything anchor the batting, get the qucik single, loft the ball over the in-field and much more, he is a very versitile batsmen. At the moment his ODI average is over 100 and with a strike rate of 98, its sound like a story from a fairy tale book!

If he carrys on batting like this and plays cricket for Australia for the next 5 years he could well become the best ODI batsmen ever!

I just realised I put that Hussey was only 3! I think Hussey bats too far down the order, he seems to be able to play with the tail and smack the ball around the park, but he is far more diverse than this. If he were to play at number 4 I could see him being the first person to make 200! Something that Gilchrist was talking about recently.

Yeah they should move Hussey up into Michael Clarkers spot, since he isnt really the run scorer Hussey is.

Hussey is twice the player Bevan was. I agree about swapping Clarke and Hussey in the batting order but if it doesn't work, switch them back.

i wouldn't really praise hussey or bevan for their averages, they both come really below the order and have a bigger chance of having more not outs than batsmen who come earlier
i mean, he's only played 22 innings and has a massive 14 not outs
