Cool M.S Dhoni vs. Kamran Akmal

OK every one I think it is safe to say that Kamran Akmal and M.S Dhoni are one of the best keepers at the moment. My question is Who is bettter? Is Dhoni better or Akmal. When I say better I mean Batting Keeping and encouraging the bowlers and feilders. That is the main job of the keeper. So Who is it and tell us why you think Akmal or Dhoni is better..

I think Kamran Akmal is better than M.S Dhoni. The reson why is because I think Akmal has great strokes. And every play he encourages his mates. And he always appeals when needed. When he knows its not out he will still appeal. Dhoni is a good player. I like his style BIG hitting. Akmal wins due to his good batting and keeping. Kamran Akmal gets my vote..

I've added a poll to the thread, and myself believe that Akmal is the better player. He is a more composed batsman and less of a smasher than Dhoni, and also pretty good with the gloves. They are both excellent prospects, however.

Voted for Dhoni. Its a misconception that he is more of a hitter. I have seen him play slow when his team needs it. Even when hitting, he does it using brains and I think thats why he makes such huge scores.

Is that a really good thing for a keeper to do?

My vote goes to Dhoni, although I dont like this comparison of Dhoni with Akmal. Each one is diferent. Dhoni is not a slogger; its a huge misconception. All his strokes are clean hits. His wicket-keeping isn't bad either, its constantly improving. He is very fast between the wickets. Moreover, he has the ability to play very long innings. Personally, Dhoni is my favorite and I will vote for him, even if he is compared with Adam Gilchrist or Sangakkara.

I'm in the Akmal camp too, his keeping has been top class recently and his batting extrememly consistent.

I myself voted for Kamran Akmal as he has been playing excellently recently, especially with the bat. His keeping skills are very good and his batting also looks very good, he has got technique and im sure he will be able to score over 10 Test centuries in his career, even more!

What made me choose Akmal over Dhoni is their keeping skills, Dhoni's keeping is okay and he is improving but at the moment Akmal keeping much better than his.

But I am a big fan of Dhoni's and I am sure Dhoni will have a very, very bright career ahead of him. Its not everyday that a wicket-keeper keeps for 50 overs and then come out for 46 overs and smashes a 150 ball 180*!!

Cool Yeh

[quote=rineet ]Is that a really good thing for a keeper to do?

Ah.. defintaly you always want your keeper in the game. And paying attention and even pumping up the umps to have a fun good game. Dhoni is quiet which will not help team India. Akmal more loud you could hear what he is saying. And when he appeals he just yells. Thats a good thing cause umps will take more interst in the game and not just make a call. GO AKMAL!!!

I dont think so. I think such appealling will have adverse effect on the umpire. An umpire doesnt like excessive appealling or yelling much. Once the umpire realises that the player is apealing just for the sake of it, he will stop taking the appeals seriously and that wont be very good. Umpires play under tremendous pressure as they have to be alert every second of the game and they dont at all like players to add to the pressure. Asian wicket keepers have the habit of doing this. Examples are Moin Khan and Nayan Mongia. But I think too much noise is not always good. Encouraging players is good, but I wouldnt like an Akmal or a Dhoni to follow the path of a Moin or Nayan.
