murali v warne

Murali relies more on bounce and pace rather than genuine spin. When you see Warney rip one, it really spins like hell.

Murali doesn't spin it like warne but i thought why Murali was so much better than most offspinners is because he spins it a huge amount. I have heard people say he, along with harbhajan singh are the best offpinners and as effective as leg spinners because of the turn they get with the ball.

Murali does get the ball to turn...Although he takes a lot! of his wickets with the Doosra, however Warne rarely bowls the googly now and still takes more wicket than Murali.

warnes slider is a big wicket ball for him because it just looks like a scrambled seamed legspin delivery that skids on and stays low.

It doesn't really turn the other way though does it? It is a total variation of the stock ball but he still doesn't use it as often as Murali uses the Doosra.

To add to my earlier post on Murali not being "ordinary"...watch the over in which he bowled to Simon Katich in the ICC super series (of super series super cricket that's super). Warne would have been proud of that over I can guarantee you.

the one thing that Warne has that Murali doesnt is the drift, he doesnt drift the ball as much as he use to before his shoulder problems but due to Murali using the scrambled seam and he doesnt really get much drift.

Compensation for bowling legitamately has been a lessening of his spin.

Worst bowling figures int odi

From memory the worst bowling figure for an international odi that I remember is for mick lewis of Australia. He got belted for over 100 in 10 overs thereby beating Murali's worst.
