Hitting Power

There are a lot of very hard hitters of a cricket ball, who do you think hits the ball he hardest, and against which type of bowling they are most effective to smash against?

Freddie against the quicks...I think Pietersen is pretty good against spinners.

Some of the sixes Freddie has hit have been huge. I suppose you could get that list and give them one of those machines where you hit it with a mallot and see who gets the highest score.

Brett Lee can hit a ball a fair way too.

I think Flintoff if he middles the ball, his strength is awesome, and I think he has hit sixes to every part of the ground, even when he has not timed the ball - with just brute force.

Indeed, I recall him hitting the roof at Edgbaston. As I've said in the other thread, they are all as powerful as each other given the chance. Symonds is best hitting straight, Pietersen's slog-sweep is awesome, Flintoff's pulling and driving is where his best range is, and Afridi is just a 20-minute monster. You could fit all of them into a great ODI side - just hope Bangladesh become world number one and they play the ICC World XI!

Difficult question!

All of these batsmen strike the ball very well ands its really hard to chose amongst them! But IMO, Sehwag, surely cuts the ball harder than anyone else.

Flintoff. They can all hit the ball but Flintoff hits it incredibly hard even when he is just playing a normal stroke, then if he really tries to smash it goes miles.

i was going to put Jayasuria in but im wasnt asking who hits the biggest sixes i was asking who hits the ball the hardest.
i personally dont think that flintoff has the best hitting power he is one of the best at hitting sixes.
Pollock should be in there as well as Lee. Did anyone check out Murali smashing the Aussies around in the 2nd final of the VB series, on the rare occasion he hits the middle he gets some serious power maybe he should be there .

Is Dhoni a powerful stricker of the ball like a Symonds or is he just really good at placing the ball over the fence like a Hussey?
