Shoaib Akhtar is likely to miss Pakistan's tour of Sri Lanka in March, owing to a stress fracture in his left ankle, the Pakistan board have confirmed. He is legitly injured and needs rest. Inshallah he will be fit for the more important england series and will perofrm for us there.

We can only guess. It could be any of the three actually but it will be better to accept the official version till we get a god reason to believe otherwise.

He's injured. Pakistan do NOT want to risk having him out long term when he's been told to rest when Pakistan have important series coming up this year. I think he would rather miss ODI's than test matches.
