End of the SuperSub

The fact is that the supersub rule didn't work, and anyone who really thought properly about it would have come to the same conclusion

We will see more International Twenty20 games as well, which I am not sure about.

Bad news for teams like India...it would have been better if they had made the use of supersubs a bit more flexible...God knows why the BCCI refuse to involve India in anything to do with Twenty20. They refused the the requests of the ECB and PCB for a game for the their respective series.

Hurrah, sense rides again. It was evident the rule was not working and really worked against the side losing the toss, reducing the match to a 50:50 chance at the beginning and conflicting with the idea of skill and intelligent captaincy being the reason games are won.

I reckon they should've used it like this.

Each team picks a 15 man squad going into the game, you have you're starting 11, a designated 12th man and 3 potential super subs. You toss the coin, see wether you're batting or bowling and you then have 5-10 mintues after the coin toss to decide who will step up into the super sub role for the match, that way it evens it out for both teams as they can pick a player which will actually be useful in the situation no matter what.

But in saying that, I'm not sad to see the super sub rule go, now if they can just rid of professional 20/20...

To right I am not keen on one day stuff - but the super sub was the last straw for me, I am still not keen on one day stuff, but this move makes it more pallitable.

At last it has gone. One of the most stupid rules i have ever seen. People are now trying to turn cricket into something it is not, why can't we just keep cricket the way it should be played, odi's are not even real cricket so why try to make it even more off the track (having said that i do enjoy watching odi's and twenty/20's i just feel that they shouldn't keep changing them just keep them how they are)

But you voted in favour of them here, Vrock7. What made you change your mind? (Not criticising a change of mind, you understand, but I'm interested in what caused it. For the record, you're now on my side of this particular fence - we divided 4:1 against supersubs in the poll, ignoring the "Wait and see" votes.)

Has there been any word on the changed fielding restrictions (on which I am undecided)?

Can't agree more, on what is a poor format of the game IMO, these rules made it even worse.

Well that's right, Baseball is much more entertaining that 20/20, that is a power play game.
