India V England One Day series

Having drawn the test series against an understrength England,India will be looking for revenge in the one dayers and will surely record a comfortable series win in the shorter format given England's woeful recent away record.

Personally i don't care if England get beaten 7-0 as i regard the test series performance as a remarkable achievement and think that test matches are far more important anyway.

Can India bounce back or will Freddie's England find some form in the pyjama game?

Well, I think england need to start to seriously improve their ODI team and performances. At the end of the day, the world cup is played with 50 overs aside and this is the goal that all teams aim for. England team just need to get their priorities sorted. Last time Duncan Fletcher was saying he felt it was more important for england to retain the ashes then to win the world cup and they would keep players to avoid injury in the world cup for the ashes! that is just ridiculous.

Well i predict an england win.... in the ODIs.. why? because tendulkar wont be playing... oh yeh hes out of form like hell but just his presence buoys india up and without him... its only dravids wicket holding them all togather.. sehwag is suspect as well.. would expect some flat pitches... but england will win.. mark my words..

Worth noting that the pressure is off now as far as the ICCCCCCCCCT qualification rounds are concerned. Following Pakistan's victory over Sri Lanka at Colombo today, England are now qualified for the Champions Trophy (had the result gone the other way, I believe England would have had to take one of their first two games against India). BBC news report here.

As to what will happen - not a clue! Put me down for five bob on India to win 5-2.

I'll take some of that action OF. England will get hammered. We just dont do ODIs. Certainly with tresco missing. And harmison. On the upside though, Vaughan is missing !

You have to understand the mindset of the English Cricketing Public, winning the Ashes is, and probably always will be, more important than having a 50 over thrash in pyjama's!!

It is great that an overseas coach understands this. When Ericsson put out a B team while playing Australia at football, he completely mis-read the English mind set, although Australia are, on paper, a weaker side, beating them goes deep into the England Psyche (because they love beating us, and so it so well) so when we lost that game there was an outcry.

Fletcher fully understands that winning the Ashes and getting to Test no 1, is much more important to the English fans, and always will be.

Well i live in england aswell, london to be in fact and even though i am a pakistani fan my second team is always england. but i would prefer to see england beating australia in a world cup final match then the ashes. i understand the rivalry as i know about pakistan and india rivalry in cricket also.

England will collapse in at leat four of the games, we're like dominoes most of the time in ODI's. As soon as we get a relatively decent start one wicket tends to start the fall.

I reckon we will see a couple of centuries from KP, his ODI batting is brilliant and on some flat wickets I think he will be great entertainment.

I'm with RBLC and OF, 5-2 sounds about right. One of the games we will have an amazing batting performance, likewise for the bowlers.

Too many key players missing, especially Tresco at the top.

The Indians should redeem themselves. They should restore their pride which they lost during the test-series. I predict India winning the ODI series 6-1, if not 7-0. Tendulkar's absence would be felt, but he wasn't in good form. So the Indians should think that it wont make much of a difference and be positive.
