I don't think the ECB selection committee or hierarchy has anything to do with the selection of the team for the Sixes. That's a purely commercial enterprise, and as it is not played within the Laws of cricket, calling it cricket would be technically incorrect. Its an entertaining weekend's 'sport', no more, and has been a Hong Kong tradition for a long time.

Doesn't excuse sending Prior on the tour ahead of Davies

Indeed. Perhaps its because I am an outsider looking in, but I have never understood England's recent approach to wicket-keepers. In the recent past, they have tried Jones, Nixon, Prior; three below-par wicket-keepers in a short space of time, when Read would have been more than adequate in both forms of the game, with Foster as an able under-study. How many Tests and ODIs has this cost England?

Quite... though let's have less of the "recent": prior to Prior and co we should have been agonising over Piper (outstanding, but not a no 7 bat) vs. Russell (good, and a very able no 7 batsman)... but ended up with Stewart (not even remotely close to Russell's class with the gloves, and unable to do much better than Russell as a middle order bat either)

Actually, I'm not too sure he is . After watching him bat a couple of times this season I'm not too sure his technique will stand up at the top level.

and then we have Geraint Jones playing in the All Stars team.

Read played a couple of years ago in the HK6's and had the 2nd highest strike rate of 282.86 and after Maddy hit the most sixes. We have picked Davies who has a strike rate of 111.03 in 20/20s.

I think that's more to do with the fact that the original line-up (Afridi pulling out for Internationals with Pakistan) didn't actually have a wicket-keeper in it.

FWIW; the All-Stars team: Warne (captain), Jones, Kumble, Lara, McGrath, McMillan, Streak.
