ICC Champions Trophy: India Vs West Indies

I was very eager to see both Lara and Sachin in one match. But unfrotunately Lara is injured and probably will not play today. That reduces WI batting strength by half.

Both teams have a win each. India is leading the points table because of a better run rate. A win today will probably ensure a place in the semis.

Even though WI beat AUstralia in the last match, I think Indians are favorites in this match. Lara is not playing, Indian bowlers (both pacers and spinners) are in good form, Sachin Tendulkar is in good form. Though Indian batsmen had a few hicups in the last match, I dont think that a matter of serious concern.

This match will be interesting like all other matches in CT so far.

Yes DomainK, I agree that India are indeed slight favourites today but in a competition such as this one, favourites counts for very little. I feel that this is a must win for India because India play Australia next while the West Indies will destroy England next. Thus the West Indies will finish with 2 wins at least. A win for India will make this group interesting as Australia will then need to beat India by a good margin (to increase their Net Run Rate) to advance to the next stage. However if India lose today, their match against Australia will be a quater final.

Lets hope we have a good match. I think that this will be a high scoring game but you never know with West Indies.

Yes, I'm also of the opinion that both the teams featuring today have adverse odds for their succeeding games. India would love to seal the deal today and use the game against Australia to up their RR or possibly win it. On the other hand West Indies in present mode are still a lot better than England. So another big game today! Lara or no Lara (I've this gut feeling that he will play) I'm tipping West Indies to take this one.

LARA after winning the toss decided to field first. West Indies already gained a slight advantage I'd say....

If Sehwag stays for a while, he will make things difficult for WI. But he hasnt been in the best form of late.

It's like getting a penalty at Old Trafford. Tendulkar looked plumb, was plumb and it astonishes me how that wasn't given out.
