Chris Gayle's innings should be shown to KP and Freddie to remind them that they don't need to go like a bull in a china shop from ball 1.Gayle has played well today and survived his chance and is making England pay bigtime now.

Well, the good news, I guess, is that Lewis didn't look at all bad, Flintoff and Mahmood likewise. Some of the fielding was a bit half-arsed though. Bell, Strauss, Yardy all dropping catches they are paid to take, Mahmood missing the stumps with the ball in his hand for a lost run out chance ... Not all that good, fellahs! As for the West Indies, well they look like a good bet for the World Cup to me. Except for Lara who, if we'd not seen him a few times before, we might have mistaken for a new boy.

Surely this one is for the West Indies. I can't see England chasing the 273 they need somehow.

well West Indies have sure piled on the runs here. Will take a lot of batting from england to chase 272 in 50 overs... what innings by gayle and bravo... a ton each... and greg kp and flintoff mustve seen the whole thing up close lets see if they can match it

I guess this confirms that Lewis could make a very good one day player, he does need to bowl a little more accurate at the start though at his pace.

When you think of other bowlers at his pace over the years - Bicknall or Hendrick, it shows he has a way to go yet, but should make a more than decent one day player.

The score is gettable with any decent one day side - and as we know thus far in 2006, that counts England out!

Not a lover of Bell overall, but in India I think he is a better bet early on than Flintoff, who I hope does not bat at 3, he should come in after the specialist batsmen IMO - with the possible exception of Yardy, so his best possition should be at 5, he has not had a decent bat for ages.

Well, that was, Lewis, Dalrymple and Collingwood aside, a pathetic bowling and fielding effort. Anderson was all over, Mahmood took 6 overs to get going though he did finish fairly well, and Yardy was over-used after Bravo started attacking him. Why Collingwood was kept until over 41 I don't know. No imagination, no spark and a lazy fielding effort. Catches went down all over and even Read missed a stumping, though otherwise he kept very well.

270 is beyond us, I'll be surprised if we get within 50. I'll watch as I really have nothing better to do today!

Strauss is looking very good indeed, Mr Hutt, certainly playing some very fine strokes.

A little bit slow from the Windies but their score should challenge England. Congrats to Gayle for his century and Bravo on his maiden century, another batsman that played some fine strokes.

Not a bad start from England, we'll probably bat 10-20 overs without losing a wicket and then it will either carry on nicely (not spectacular) to give us a great finish or a fine collapse.

Is it Brian Lara playing a square cut? No, it's Andrew Strauss playing a fine shot!
