This is unarguably Watto's biggest opportunity to prove that he do looks like a part of this Australian XI. And he hasn't done anything wrong thus far to harm that notion. Pathan is wayward yet again and lots troubling times for Dravid.

0/50 in just 7.2 O... and Gilly didn't wasted anytime to catch up with his young partner... 0/58 after 7.4

Australia 60 for 1. A foot in the door for India? They need a couple more in the next few overs.

Indian bowlers are looking too inexperienced to handle the Aussie batsmen.

It always been Inida's problem. Against the top sides there bowlers are nearly always short. India have great batsmen and one or two world class bowlers and thats the problem. So they are only a good side.

If India are to win this match spin will have to do it - the pace bowlers have just sent down rubbish.

Ponting is fighting his way back into form - a mixture of beautiful strokes and sloppy slashes.

And Anil Kumble has been kept out of the one day squad for a long time for some mysterious reason. He is in fine form and is probably the only bowler who can do well on any kind of pitch. Amarnath was not wrong when he called the selectors a bunch of jokers.

I think the person who is going to suffer the most from this is likely to be Suresh Raina . He was under pressure to play a good innings against Windies and he looked in decent form in that game before that stumping . Today he was again under a lot of pressure - and he was not in good knick at all ...and I suspect he will be the casualty .

I think Sreesanth did a good job - he is by nature an aggressive bowler looking for wickets and he is obviously a bit too expensive but he has a big heart. Well done on such short notice.

I don't know if we missed Agarkar. He is very unpredictable and although he has enjoyed a good run of form in ODI's recently I think he cannot be relied upon heavily .

Sachin didn't fire .. Rahul out at a crucial point . And Mongia - replacing Yuvraj didn't click with the bat . I don't think either Kaif or Raina would have made too much difference if they had more time at the crease . Kaif is the batsman you want when the other player is blasting the opposition . Kaif keeps to board ticking but I haven't seen him finish any innings in a blaze of glory. The batting order might have to be reworked. I think from pos4-pos 7 they need to position a pinch hitter to tag along with Kaif . I think Kaif-Dhoni is a good idea they should try .

The only thing in our favour was that Rahul and Sehwag hit good form and Kaif was not too bad. But they got out at the wrong time for us . On some days Dhoni will fail and on those days if we are struggling at 200-6 we won't be able to put up good totals . This must be addressed.

On the bowling front - the biggest pain is that Irfan is not in great form and I really don't know that Munaf Patel is doing - trying to emulate McGrath - he needs to get back some pace. If he bowls at 80mph he is not troubling anybody despite bowling that line all day long . He needs to get back to his forte - those unexpected 90mph deliveries....god ...this is so pathetic - bowling at 80mph and being a liability in the field. I don't know who got him to change his tear-away quick attitute to an econo-miser...!

The better team won.

As for India, I hope this is not a sign of things to come! In the last couple of season their performance has gone from bad to worse and now they even lose at home. The BCCI should focus on developing the quality of the game within India rather than focus simply on earning more money. Until this happens I do not foresee any improvement in India's performance.

To be fair to India the conditions were not typical Indian conditions the ground was made to be like South African and Australian conditions. The wicket had plenty of bounce and suited the Aussies more that the Indians. McGrath bowled well as did Johnson after Sehwag went after him in his second over. Good to see Martyn make another big fifty.
