A thought struck me last nite and perhaps somewhere in my mind its been boggling me for quite some time. The fate of a team playing a critical match is partially in the hands of a groundsman? while any groundsman can very easily be given a green light to make a wicket that supports one particular aspect of the play, like it heavily supports the pace bowlers or it maybe a heaven for batsmen? and apparently, I am compelled to think if Pakistan were to play on the same quality wicket against South Africa if we had Shoaib Akhter and Muhammad Asif in our squad? I just cant resist to think if ICC provides any clear guide lines or does it have standard laws and regulations for the groundsmen who prepares the wicket? if not, I wont be surprised to see yet another ICC elite panel, not of umpires but of groundsmen.
