Thumbs up ICC Champions Trophy: India Vs Australia

Its not often that the world champions are pushed to the edge. If they dont win this one, they are out of the tournament. So Australia will play with all its might and they will makes sure that they will win. Some other day, Australia might thought that a match against India in India could be tough. But this Indian team looks depleted and out of shape.

Lets have a look at history. Last time the teams found themselves in a similar situation was six years ago. On 7th October 2000, India and Australia played a knock out match in champions trophy. Australia then was stronger than what they are today. India then beat Australia with a wonderful team effort.

But things are different today. The hero of that match, Yuvraj Singh is not playing. Most other players are either injured or out of form.

I think the chances are 90:10 in Australia's favor. But you never know what team India might do. Even if one Sachin or Sehwag or Dhoni gets going, they might be too much for Australia to hadle. But thats a big if.

I wouldn't rule India out just yet. I'd say West Indies were the big favourites in yesterdays game too and we know what happened there.

Should be very interesting, I'd say its 66/33 in Aus' favour.

If the preview reports are to be believed, the pitch will assist the Aussie fast bowlers. Indian batsmen have always struggled against quality pace bowling and the odds are in favour of Australia winning the match comfortably.

If India lose, this will be the first time since the world cup in 1975 that a team from the sub-continent would not have made it to the last four in a major tournament.

Sounds bad....I hope India makes it.

As per Ricky, grass is been removed a bit from the track but it still have that bounce which made life hell for Pakistan. Winner today would feature in SEMI's and home team will press hard to achieve a victory which at this point of time is looking bit unlikely...

Sehwag & Tendulkar against Lee & McGrath.... that's what cricket is about

No prizes for guessing which is Lee and which is McGrath!

Edit: Lee went for 27 off three and was taken off!

This track is no where near to what Pakistan had to bear on the other day. Nonetheless, positive start for India... first change is on for Ozzies, with McGrath still operating from other end.

0/37...

Sure, but what's your point, that McGrath is a better bowler than Lee? Or that bowling on a consistent line and length, coupled with subtle movement in the air and off the track and not bowling 'bad balls' is a better combination than raw but wayward pace? I would have thought both points were self-evident and always have been.

Well, its not as bad as the one in the Pak-SA match. But there is the bounce.

Perhaps what's most notable is that the McGrath of old is back: he's been looking rusty thus far in the tournament... but has always needed overs under his belt to find his best form - it appears he's now found that form.

9.5	McGrath to Tendulkar, OUT, he's gone!

A typical McGrath special, lands on a sweet length outside off stump, on the seam,
a little bit of movement to boot, and Tendulkar's caught defending on the hop,
the ball kisses the edge and lands in Gilchrist's safe hands, Australia strike,
McGrath wins this battle, crowd hushed
