| over the years there has been some greats in the short form of the game WHATS YOUR BEST ODI TEAM OF ALL TIME? 1. A Gilchrist (wk) 2. G. Kirsten 3. V Richards 4. S Tenduklar 5. B Lara 6. M Waugh 7. M Bevan 8. S Pollock 9. R Hadlee 10.G Mcgrath 11. M Mulraldiran |

| Hadlee was in the McGrath class as a ODI bowler.... and a pretty special batsman. No objections to Ambrose, Murali and Wasim... but in an all-time XI you should really be picking 5 guys who can each be relied up for 10 overs. Lillee or Marshall might be my pick.... though if you wanted more batting, Pollock has been as good a ODI bowler as any. Actually.. that might work: Adam Gilchrist Sachin Tendulkar / Barry Richards Dean Jones Viv Richards Brian Lara Zaheer Abbas Wasim Akram Shaun Pollock Richard Hadlee Muttiah Muralitharan Curtley Ambrose Not a bad crew... just lacking anyone in Fleming's league as captain - though that lot shouldn't need anyone great |

| but in an all-time XI you should really be picking 5 guys who can each be relied up for 10 overs Fifth bowler would be sachin and Klusener / Carins. No matter which bowling line up one has...i guess it would be absolutely stupid not to give atleast one over to sachin. Many indian captains did so on many occasions which baffled me all the time. If Klusener/Carins need to be replaced...it can be Kapil dev...one of the greatest swing bowlers of all time and a very useful batsman

Alas... I can only think you are joking in suggesting Klusener is fit to wipe the boots of this crew: he's certainly not fit to bowl alongside guys like Hadlee, Ambrose, Wasim and Murali (offering far less than, say, Heath Streak) and with the bat he offered little more than Johnty Rhodes (who I'd rather see included). Imran Khan stomps on Klusener's case as a bowler, as a batsman and as a captain(though Zaheer might not agree on the last front). If you think Warne should oust Murali as the spinner I suggest you go look up their respective records: I've no objection to Warne being included but it should be in place of Pollock or Hadlee, not Murali. |

I would say theres not much in it between Murali and Warne, but Murali has been tonked for 70+runs a few times and i still cant accept his action, plus i believe warne would make a good captain

| with the bat he offered little more than Johnty Rhodes Agreed. He would not be the pick considering the greats we have listed. Imran Khan stomps on Klusener's case as a bowler, as a batsman and as a captain Imran khan wouldnt make it.Imran was an awesome leader for PAK cricket team and there ends the fence.Imran may not have been as successful a captain if he were to captain a non sub continent team.To me, there is no place for captain in a world XI as its a dream team and there is no motivation at all if all these players are put together to WIN.AUS XI / WORLD XI matches are best examples Imran - Great PAK captain Border - Awesome rebuilder who brought out the best from everyone Waugh - stood as an example and showed what captain should do when it matters most Taylor - Nice cricketing Acumen If i was ever to choose a captain, it would be a 12 th man going for the toss and it would be Mark Taylor.(If ICC agrees...Changing the rule is no big deal for them) Ian chappel would be coach

| Adam Gilchirst - Best wicket keeper batsman ever Saeed Anwar - ODI run machine Viv Richards - one word VIV Sachin Tendulkar - 14000+ ODI runs at well over 40 Ricky Ponting - Could one day be the greatest ever Michael Bevan - Average of well over 50+. No other batsman can bat with a tail like Bevan Sir Richard Hadlee - One of the best ever ODI bowlers and can bat as well Shaun Pollock - One of the greatest bowlers, and at stages of his career he was unplayable. under-rated allrounder Wasim Akram - 502 wickets, left arm fast who can reverse swing. Joel Garner - Best ODI bowler ever. Muttiah Muralitharan - Best ODI spinner ever 12th Man - Gordon Greenidge.

| The only problem I have with that side is the ommission of Dean Jones: I don't care who he replaces (well, except Richards) but he strikes me as one of the first (and most necessary) names on the teamsheet. The ultimate ODI specialist. |
