Kenny's not quite right. The batsman (can't remember who) hit the ball in the air back to Symonds. It was dropping just short of Symo, so he dived forward. He caught the ball on the half volley and Symonds gave a pretty loud appeal until Cameron White told him that he hadn't caught it, whereby Symo shrugged his shoulders and went back to his mark.

The replay showed the ball just bouncing in front of Symo and that he didn't have his eyes on the ball at the time and hence it was fairly reasonable to my mind that he wasn't trying to con the umpires.

So I gather that only difference between your version and Kenny's version of the events was the description of the loudness of his actual appeal, you say it was "pretty loud", and he says it was "not a big appeal"...but in essence there is consensus on the fact that the guy did not try have a genuine intention of misleading the umpires...as the email, from the other guy, during the SA-Pak, match was trying to imply. I'd still like to have a view by self but I'll take your word for it at the moment.
