India vs West Indies,1st ODI

The 1st of the four One Day Internationals is set to begin this Sunday, the 21st of January. The first match will take place at Nagpur.

Both teams seem to be in quite bad form with West Indies just losing to Pakistan and India losing to South Africa. That fact ensures that this entire series is going to be a nail biting one.

Both teams would like to pick up themselves before the World Cup.

The Indian skipper Rahul Dravid has revealed that the opening batsmen at the present would be Sourav Ganguly and Gautam Gambhir.Strangely,Sachin Tendulkar has been asked to bat down the order.

I would have preffered a Ganguly-Tendulkar opening pair and not have Gambhir in the team at all.

Yeh I don't see the reason in playing Gambhir. I wonder who they will play in the bowling department. They have many choices but who do you think they will settle upon?

West Indies win toss and elect to field first.Lara seems to have done a blunder.India have a steady start by their new opening pair.India are currently 148-1 in 25 overs.

338 must be a winning score for India....

Let's see how the Windies chase that total.

India really pulversied the WIndies attack!

Apparently, the Windies are very unsettled. They've only been in India 48 hours, no warm-up matches, and worst of all, they're team kit has not arrived! Gayle is wearing a shirt that is not his, Lara's jut us still jetting around the world....

Morning, Karthik!

This pitch seems to be assisting spin. I think the Windies should have played Dave Mohammed instead of Powell.

Very good batting by India to make 338, but at least the Windies are trying to chase it....

Still no Lara!

Morning to you too,Mike.

Yes the pitch does quite seem to be assisting spin.Chris Gayle picked up 2 wickets (out of 3,and 1 was a run out) and Harbhajan picked up both the wickets so far.

I think it was a right decision to play Powell rather than Mohammed because they already have 2 spinners,Gayle and Samuels. Also the fact that Powell may strengthen the batting order a little bit.
