I'm a little worried that this game could turn into a painfully turgid affair between two teams performing well below their best, but at least the last few games have been reasonably close affairs so it could be a good show.

From NZ's point of view I'm glad McCullums dropped back down the order and they've reverted back to Astle/Fleming as opening pair (the most sensible option from the resources at hand IMO). Hopefully Oram will come in at the expense of Marshall, last game we just lacked a fifth bowler (and quality fielding...).

Both teams will be hoping for an opening partnership - even the Aussies have had trouble there in the last couple of games

Well I believe England have been playing at their best - and have been doing very poor in ODI's for quite a while.

Good news for NZ is that jocob Oram could well be playing.
Ed Joyce place may go to Ravinder Singh Bopara

England will be unpedicable if both Loye and Bopra play, any new face is good news for England.

New Zealand win the toss and will bat first.

England bring in Panesar for Tremlett, with Joyce getting another go.

For New Zealand, Bond makes a surprise return along with Oram, Mason and Marshall the two men making way.

So much for the opening partnership . . .

A bit hard on Mason getting the boot for a half-fit Bond. I'm a bit nervous about him playing so soon after a 'career threatening injury'

I am not sure either selection is right.

Anderson now bolwing well suffered from what seems to happening to Tremlett now - England have bowled decent the last two games, why change?.

I think Joyce should have gone, he has looked out of sorts, lacking in confidence.

I just realised that Bond, Oram and Astle are all going into this game on 99 ODI wickets. Anyone got odds on who'll be first?

No doubt it will be Bond unless he falls apart again

Agreed he looks very nervous and not very confident but I think he deserves the whole series to try and stake a claim in the middle order. So far he's been around the squads for a while but not getting much of a game and when he does he's been opening which isn't his position.

He should get more than a couple of innings (one where he was run out) in the middle order to show that he deserves his place.

New Zealand are 69-5, playing very poorly at the moment. England bowling very well but no attacking intent shown by NZ at all.

210 all out 50 overs.

Only Jacob Oram troubled England and that total is surely below par on what doesn't look a bad track to bat on.Flintoff bowled superbly 4-21 off his 10 overs and Lewis did well with 1-31.Funniest thing was Flintoff's dropped catch off Oram when he got absolutely nowhere near a skyer at midon.

What is a little strange is that New Zealand look to be playing totally without a gameplan and England look like they have one, normally it is the other way round.

England should win but you never can tell with them.
