At home we are potentially a different proposition. No one thought we'd win the Champions Trophy in 2004 or even make the final last year. We just don't travel well.

Mike, why do the selectors persist with Morton.

For the same reason a myriad of poor WI players have earned international honours.

Where is Ricardo Powell (at one stage, considered one of the finest hitters in the game).

Relegated to obscurity, where he belongs. Others hsould join him.

Why is there always pay disputes (Sarwan not playing).
|
Because our board is broke, incompetent and players can't be expected to compete with their opponents without proper investment.
Sarwan is injured btw.

And Samuels and Dwayne Smith are really useless.

Tell me about it!!
Samuels and Morton have recently scored centuries. They have bought themselves time and security for a while. Daren Powell has probably secured his WC squad spot based on this one performance. This is how it works, gibbs.

When will they learn that 20's and 30's dont win matches. I understand that they very talented and on their day, they can win a match but their day comes once every 2 years. This will not win the WC.

When 20s and 30s and losing matches are rewarded in the same manner Australia, for example, would reward it and no one but the eternal optimist thought they would the WC.
When you have become used to mediocrity every flash in the pan is signalled the new dawn. Let's remember that for years, not just in the WI, it was Lara's presence that was blamed for successive WI failures and this by so-called seasoned journalists.

Surely WI have better players. When I watched the Stanfor 20/20, I saw some awsome hitters. Why are they not called up. WI have potential but these obvious and silly issues keep holding you back.

All of the guys are awesome hitters. On his day, if you put it in the right place, Dwayne Smith will clear ANY boundary in the world.
Sadly for him, bowlers don't put it in the right place. He's a brilliant fielder (one of the best and the fastest across the ground in the world) but his medium pace is so-so and his batting promises much but delivers little.
What WI needs are innings builders. Sarwan got to #1 ranked ODI batsman by building innings. Gayle had good form by building innings. If Smith and R.Powell could build innings, they would be in the top ten of ODI batsmen.
They've never been taught or needed to learn that as they have been brought up under a system that does not reward that.
