| Bad news for the Windies as Lara has been ruled out with a knee problem. Devon Smith comes into the side and Chris Gayle will take on the captaincy duties. One more change for India: Joginder Sharma replaces Sree Sreesanth. Must admit I don't know a thing about him... India won the toss and have decided to bat first. | That's a shocking decision by the 'home' umpire there. |

India in a spot of bother at 46/4. Powell bowling an amazing spell at the moment, figures read: 3.5-2-5-3

I've got it on Sky at the moment Wanderer. It's a very slow pitch. WI bowling well mixing up the slower balls. Anything close to 150 will be tough to get by the looks of it.

Thanks Milo. I am at work unfortunately, so now satellite connection here...I'm following on a local website. Would you say it was a good toss to lose then? I mean India is 69/6 at the moment. 150 seems a long way away... Will the pitch get worse later in the evening?

Gayle apparently said he would have bowled first. The commentators seem to think the pitch will only get harder to bat on. Having said this, you've got to bowl well to take advantage. WI certainly favourites.

I really do feel sorry for Shivnarine Chanderpaul at the moment. He's in sparkling form and looks like he could hit any ball in to any gap and he's timing the ball magnificently. Yet he makes two marvellous knocks and both times the guys at the other end simply can't deliver. Too many stupid shots near the end cost the Windies any chance of winning the match, Ramdin's dismissal was plain silly. Gayle's captaincy was a little poor as well, when India were seven-down and really struggling he was quite content to have the fielders deep even though there was very little intention from Karthik or Agarkar to up the run rate dramatically. Is Sarwan injured at the moment 'cause the Windies sure could use him right now. Edit: Just did a little research and found out Sarwan is playing first-class cricket back home at the moment. With Lara out of the side surely some more experience in the batting order is needed? Not just a long line of bits and pieces players batsmen. Last edited by Vrock : 24-01-2007 at 07:36 PM.

Chanderpaul's knock last night made me want to pull my hair out on more than 2 occasions. 1. If he KNEW how to bat with the tail-enders, the Windies would have won. 2. If he did not run 2 of his colleagues out, the Windies would have won (oh yes, BOTH run-outs were his fault!) You don't run your fellow batsmen out because you think you are better than them. He sold his partners out and did nothing to make up for it. 3. If he paced his innings well enough, he would have known exactly when to start pressing on the accelerator, and THAT would have made the need to play foolish shots at the end complete unnecessary. Windies SHOULD have won this one. India did not win it, the Windies lost it.
