Possibly.... but not if we can subvert the thread into discussing something other than the current One Dayer.

I'm currently watching the tv. Locked Out by Crowded House is on....

I can't remember having ever been locked out of my house. And my house has never been 'crowded'

My house will never be crowded either I LOVE people, but I love my private space too...

Hmmm...My ALL TIME favourie Crowded House song: "Don't dream it's over". I love it to bits. I always sing it like I mean it: "don't let them win"...

"Africa", by Toto was playing on my radio now... Like the dj said. Its a song that makes you feel really happy about living in Africa.

"As sure as Kilimandjaro rises like Olympus above the serengeti"

Ah. A classic song. I had a friend from Kenya whilst I was at university. We regularly went to the local pub, The Brunswick in Leamington Spa, played pool and darts and put tunes on the jukebox. He always put on Africa and always had to stop what he was doing when the song came on as it made him think of home.

Those were the days. Sadly, the Brunswick no longer exists.

As for my favourite Crowded House song.... Hmmm... Tough one that. Probably "Distant Sun" though some of those Split Enz hits are really up there too.... Six Months in a Leaky Boat for example.

Speaking of Crowded House/Split Enz, when I was over in Aus at Christmas, I picked up a "Best of Australia" CD in a record shop and saw that it had about ten songs from Crowded House, Split Enz, the Finn Brothers and Dragon. I think you'll find they're Kiwi Bands you crafty Aussies! (in the case of Crowded House, 2/3rds were Aussie, but the undoubted talent was from Te Awamutu, NZ - not Australia!!)

You know what? I NEVER knew who did "Six months in a leaking boat"! Whenever it used to come on radio, I'd sing and dance along to that thing...Like a lunatic! And the only words I used to know was: "I just spent 6 months in leaking boat, six months in a leaking boat"...And the rest I just made up!!

And I have no idea who the Finn brothers and Dragon are either!

PS: I always make up my own words if I can't make out what they're singing... Like that old Bob Dylan song: The answer is blowing on the wind"? Well, he sings: "The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind, the answer is blowing in the wind".

I used to sing: "The ants are my friends, they're blowing in the wind, the ants are just blowing in the wind". Embarrasing huh? But I was a kid, so I never cared that people laughed!

There are a couple of others too, but they're REALLY to crazy to mention...

Channel Nine's coverage is supposed to start in 20 mins. Presumably, they were going to show the 2nd innings live. Will be interesting to see whether they join the match live in progress or show a replay of the whole match.

"Gonna take a lot to drag me away from you...There's nothing that a 100 men or more could ever do"... Love it!

Yes, at 99/1 they only need 12 more.

Wonder why Hayden is scoring so slow? If not for him, this would have been over before the break...

Ah... The Finn Brothers... A Kiwi institution

Tim Finn formed Split Enz in the Seventies. After Mike Judd left, he brought in his brother Neil Finn.

After Split Enz broke up, Neil Finn formed Crowded House.

For Crowded House's album, Woodface, Tim Finn joined the band for one album.

After Crowded House split up (and between Split Enz and Crowded House) Tim and Neil did solo work and played as a duo.

Tim Finn's biggest hit was probably "A Fraction too Much Friction"
Neil Finn's biggest hit was probably "She Will Have Her Way"

Purchasing the best of Split Enz is a must... non-hit after non-hit; but classics one and all. "I See Red" "History Never Repeats" "I Got You" "Shark Attack" and the seminal "6 Months in a Leaky Boat"

There's enough great music from the Finn brothers to put them alongside Lennon/MacCartney, Jagger/Richards and Difford/Tilbrook.

Tim Finn's just come back with a new solo album and another cracking track, "Never Been Done"

There's actually some other great music from NZ. The Muttonbirds were pretty good too, the Swingers, the Chills... Great songs.

Drop Flintoff from the captaincy (it really is enough now, it doesn't work) and sack Fletcher now, this can't go on. I can't lift myself to say anything else - expect why was Plunkett given no cricket all tour and suddenly expected to perform now?!!!

You know how when a football team sacks their manager they then seem to play far better for a while? Well maybe England should just do that after this CB Series. Then we'll have a half decent World Cup!!
