great performances from Paul Collingwood, Ian Bell (slam it Ern), Andrew Flintoff and Monty Panesar.

I think Nixon did well not to lose his head at the death.

Yes Bell made the most of his luck , Paul Collingwood like Bell shows he is a fine one day player.

Flintoff captained well again, bowled well again - good all-round performance.

I missed the first three England wickets, is there any truth that Loye was given out to a ball going down leg side??, I heard a commentator mumbling something.

Did anyone listen to the boring TMS team going on and on and on and on and on - about mcgrath being in a bad mood????, SO WHAT.

Quote:
33.2 Hogg to Flintoff, 1 run, comes forward, thick inside edge dribbles way to short fine-leg
34.5 McGrath to Flintoff, 1 run, clubbed in the air down to long on, falls short of the man on the fence, not middled by Flintoff
35.3 Hogg to Flintoff, no run, gee, Flintoff really can't read the wrist spin. Tries to work through the leg side and almost a leading edge back to Hogg
35.4 Hogg to Flintoff, 1 run, dropped! another leading edge from Flintoff out to cover, Mitchell Johnson is on as sub and makes a great dive but can't hold on at full stretch. What a let-off
36.2 McGrath to Flintoff, no run, defends, ball bounces down by his feet, Flintoff kicks it away to make sure it doesn't hit the stumps...almost thought of a single, you can't do that!
36.3 McGrath to Flintoff, 1 run, charges and top-edges down to third man
37.6 Hogg to Flintoff, 2 runs, close! edged just wide of slip but that's a great over for England...brings the asking rate down

Rachael I was aware that Flintoff was troubled by Hogg when he first came in, he did not read his wrong un - but was in no real trouble after that.
Even Ponting was lucky when he came in nearly out first ball to Mahmood, all batsmen get some luck.

Also you are highlinting a small window in Flintoff innings, and when he kicked the ball away he was in no danger, he was just being 100% sure.

Great win for England.
Out played Australia in every facet of the game.

Top choke from Australia.
Serves them right for playing the dud Watson.
Bring back Johnson and White for Sydney and things should turn around.(I hope)

Well, Like him or not but this Australian team is really missing Andrew Symonds. I agree with KennyG on Watson but from what I have seen of Whites bowling, I dont think he will make it at international level. Hogg is a much better bowler than White. yes White can bat but with Australias top six, he will get limited opportunities. Besides every time white has batted under pressure, he has choked. Yes he has smashed the bowling but only when Australia were setting a target and he was under no pressure. Stick with Hogg , White is not the player you Australians make him out to be. And Please get rid of Watson.

Thumbs down Get rid of Watson?

Why, why?

Keep him. It keeps Australia in everyone else's sights.

But what you guys are saying here is; poor selection from Australia, rubbish attack!
Collingwood scores 120.

Yup, I see.

White shouldn't have to bowl, he's a good enough batsmen, and most importantly - fielder to be a given for every 11 for the next 10 years.
I'm actually glad watson proved himself to be utterly inadequate, it was worth the loss just for that.
I hate him personally, plus he actually sucks.
I hope he's never called upon again.
White is a fantastic addition to australia's side, he bats like a maniac, and he fields well enough to be a part of what is by far the greatest fielding cricket team in history.
White is actually one of the best fielders, in the top 5 easily even including the wicketkeeper.
Mitchell johnson also is invaluable in the outfield.
I don't know why fielding is so sorely underrated, realistically it plays a more significant role than bowling.

IMHO white should be high up on the batting order, his place shouldn't even be questionable, he's a perfect match for the aussie side. The flaws he has are all experience related. He's a great natural striker of the ball and an awesome fielder.
Alot of the guys being "trialled" are bad fielders and this to me is more than enough to forget about them entirely.
"oh well this guy's bowling was moderately superior according to some stats..." shut up, really who cares in the context of a real game? It doesn't matter. Being a genuinely good player in a general sense (IE primary focus in the fielding department) is what should be looked at.
I'd cement white into the top end of the batting order but would never bowl him again if it was up to me.

Oh, and congrats england on the win.
I have to admit, they deserved it.
Collingwood alone deserved to beat australia.

Oliver, you're getting worse than Ernest...the only difference being you don't think Sajid Mahmood is the reincarnation of C.h.r.i.s.t.

Well that was worth staying up all night for, knackered now having spent the day playing in the snow with the kids.I need my bed, good job the match tomorrow looks like being off.

Colly played the best one day innings by an Englishman i have seen, perfectly timed.Good to see the Aussies choke for once.

Considering we were almost dead and buried early on in our innings to come back and beat the convicts was a tremendous performance. The Aussies committed a criminal offence (not for the first time ) in not batting out the overs and it cost them.

At least we get to see 3 games now as i was expecting a 2-0 defeat.
