Dreadful piece of running by England immediately after the resumption of play. Loye run out by Hayden for 45 by about 22 yards or so. Awful.

It was a great piece of fielding by Hussey, but to be honest no more than we now expect from the Australians. All winter they have been in a different fielding class from the Poms - when the Aussies shy at the sticks, they hit them: when the Poms do it, they get close, which is not close enough. This is something that England's fielding coaches have to look at hard.

Strauss dismissal must be a big concern to England selectors, his confidence looks totally shot.

230 should be a good score given the history of SCG and Panesar.

Are you actually watching the match OF? Don't tell me you have sold your soul to the devil and procured one of Mr. Baird's new-fangled contraptions?

Another Gatting moment

Lee hurls it down to Flintoff at about 140 kph , Flintoff hits it back to him at about 150 kph and Lee catches it

Thank goodness probably would have shattered his knee cap if he did'nt.

I am watching, using a feed from a mate's Sky box through the wonders of Sling Media. Picture quality is not great, but it is watchable.

So - England finish on 246-8. Not spectacular, but not a bad score for the SCG at which the highest successful run chase is something around 260. With suspect weather and Messrs Duckworth and Lewis likely to have an influence, all is not lost for England. That said, Australia really controlled the England innings at the back end and their tails will be up. The game is very much alive, I think. And because of the rain delays, the interval is short: play resumes at 0815 GMT.
