SA vs Pakistan-5th ODI

Pakistan are in all sorts of trouble again. There batting has really been poor on this tour. I cannot see Pakistan as a threat in the WC. Pollock answers his critics by putting in another outstanding performance. This will be another hammering for Pakistan. They need to forget about this tour.

From recent form, I think this WC is going to be tight. Sri Lanka and India have also been a bit down on form and they were considered amongst the favourites early on. We also saw the "worst" 1 day side beat the "best" 1 day side 2-0 in the final.

Mr Nutt, what is happening with your team.

Kneejerk assessment. Winning WC's is all about peaking at the right time - recent form means nothing. Having South Africa peaking so early with the resulting high expectations placed on them would make me nervous if i was a S.A fan

that's not entirely true seamer - Oz were expected to win the last two, based on form, and did so with ease. particularly the most recent one.

but with regards being nervous about the early form and subsequent expectactions on the Saffers - i think you could be right. it's a matter of waiting to see!!

I don't know about ease. We were heading for a certain loss against S.A in the last one, and it was only a panic attack by Donald resulting in a run out that allowed us to win by one run.
And in the WC before that, Australia were heading for defeat against S.A with only Steve Waugh as our only hope. He hit an easy catch to Gibbs which he dropped, and Australia then made it over the line. Had Gibbs taken that catch we were done for
I'm not saying Aus did'nt deserve the wins, but they had some luck, and peaked at the right time.

One would think Pakistan have no chance to win on current form, but the only predictable thing about Pakistan is that they are unpredictable. Look at England turning it around to flog Australia in the recent final series when many (me included) gave them no chance. This WC is so close i reckon any of the top 8 can win.

neither example was from the last WC - of course in england "ease" wasn't accurate which is why i said "especially in the last one" but in fact in england except for SA they had no problems at all. "panick attacks", "dropped cups" and all the other verbal fabrications (not by you but the telling of those tales are now the stuff of legends - i saw both matches and i think the gibbs catch was a marginal decision and the donald run out over-confidence) aside - they were the two form horses going into that WC and they were indeed the most likely winners all the way through. In SA it was a one horse race from pre-tournament to post!

at this stage it certainly looks like ANYONE could win it

Went to the game, would of loved to have seen Pakistan post a higher score....so it could of been more competitive.

Unfortunately everything was over b4 9 o' clock
