I agree. But then Afridi was initially selected in the team as leg-spinner, and that's still his primary role in ODIs. That, and to be a very attacking and versatile fielder. His batting is a lottery, which may or may not come off, and he should have the licence to be reckless.

I think afridi is primary still a batsman, but the only reason i think he is in the team is due to his fast leg breaks, but he is so unorthsadox he can never be consistant meaning he will never score a hugh score in one day cricket becase he will get out smashing

Afridi is probably the "biggest hitter" around, but that doesnt mean he's the best. Actually Afridi is a bit of an anomaly, because as mentioned he also bowls reasonable leg spin. This means Pakistan can afford him to blaze away for the 2 out of 10 innings where he comes off. Pakistan are also lucky to have Yusuf, Younis and Inzamam to build big totals.

However if if was the WC final and i had to choose a batsman to win me the game I'd go for Ponting or Yusuf easily.

Is the tag big hitter someone who scores fast of some one who is able to hit the ball a long distance, Afridi is a below average batsman he may score quicker than the rest on the list but he is the worst batsman on the list.

It may be more relevant to ask who will be the "best" batsman in the World Cup.

We could define "best" from the number of runs scored, average and Strike rate.
