I'm backing Chris Gayle, especially if he finds the same vein of form we saw in the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year.

I'm hoping the tournament is won by the tournament will be won with the ball rather than with the bat... and would happily settle for any non-speedster bowling emerging as top dog: Pollock, Langveldt, Asif, Johnson, Plunkett, Collymore... it really doesn't bother me!!!

This sounds like a totally random name but I reckon Sourav Ganguly if India get their batting together properly.

He's in good form at the moment and batting consistently well, also he has a reason to bat now, to keep his place.

Probably Muralitharan in my eyes, the pitches should favour spin and there's no greater spinner in the world now Warne's retired.

You have a point. But if a bowler is going to be the player of World Cup 2007, I feel that the most likely candidate is Shane Bond. He seems to be free of his usual injury problems and is bowling rather well these days.
