| ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 Well,we're all waiting for it.Just a couple of more weeks and the World Cup 2007 in the carribean will be underway. The first of the matches is Pakistan vs West Indies which will take place on the 13th after the opening ceremony on the 11th of March. Australia seem to be losing in on form lately. The former champions chances in the World Cup are open but is quite threatened by South Africa who have recently obtained the king position in One Day Internationals.Of course, rank isn't everything, but they are in good form as well.Pakistan,Sri Lanka and India are the moderate favourites for the World Cup.They are not very consistent but can spring up surprises.New Zealand,England and West Indies are not so famous as a team but are running into some good form which could prove vital in the World Cup. It's gonna be a huge suspense.WHO'S GONNA WIN THE WORLD CUP? I would like your comments and the match reviews in this thread.

| I'm surprised people keep saying SA. If it was an SA v Aus final, i'd go for Aus as we all know that the Saffers will choke! Anyway my two darkhorse teams would be Sri Lanka and NZ. I would think that one of these two would make the final, probably at SA's expense. I still wouldnt write of the Aussies yet because although their bowling is now very weak, their batting is by far and away the strongest in the tournament.

| I think our lot head off to the Academy at Loughborough for 4 days and then on to St Vincent for the two warm up games. From there to Jamaica for the opening ceremony and off to St Lucia for 3 games hoping to win two out of the three. I wonder who will play in the warm up games. Will everyone get a chance or will the team they play in the first proper match be the only ones playing in both warm up games? |

| Australias bowlers got burnt out with the long summer, they were burnt out before they even went to New Zealand. They have had a bit of rest before the WC and they will be on top of there game when the important matches begin. Missing Lee will hurt who is second in the world for wickets last year but Bracken is still bowling well and he is the leading wicket taker for 2006, McGrath has had some rest after playing an amazingly long summer.

| Don't you think that Australia would be a little weak going into the World Cup without Brett Lee.Andrew Symonds fitness is also a concern.

| Never under estimate the Aussie's. It would be great if they got stuffed out of sight but we write them off at our peril....... My dark horses are New Zealand followed by Sri Lanka and England may surprise people by qualifying for the second phase!!! Last edited by Verso : 26-02-2007 at 02:23 PM. Reason: Spelling error |

Then again we could quite easily end up winning the whole thing. Now that would be a surprise. |
