Warm-up matches

England vs Bermuda are now 118-3 in the 21st over, with KP there on 33 not out. bell was out for 46.

South Africa are teetering on 64-5 in the 16th over, once again leaving Boucher and Pollock to do the repair work, against Ireland, for whom Langford Smith has taken three wickets.

Sri Lanka are slowly consolidating at 36-0 against Scotland, playing without Mahela, and opening with the other Jayawardene with Tharanga.

No news on the West Indies vs Kenya game yet....

South Africa seem to be taking it easy against the minnow. They better not,'cause they are a serious contender for the World Cup.

I dont think that they are taking it easy. This is an embarrasing performance irrespective of what the pitch is doing. Smith once again has opened his big mouth and failed to back up his words. He said that they would have no mercy against Scotland. Anyway, as much as I am a true die hard SA fan, I do not have high hopes this time round. I will be surprised if SA even make the ssemi finals.

Our squad is 1 dimensional and rely far too much on Gibbs for the bulk of the runs( I do not say this for nothing. He has been our leading run scorer in the past 2 cups. Kallis unfortunately does nothing in the big games). SA may be ranked #1 but they are far from the best team on West Indies pitches and conditions. Of course, I hope they prove me wrong, but I seriously doubt it. SA are Not IMO contenders.

SA will still beat Scotland. I assume there must be something in the pitch which Pollock will of course exploit. But this just proves that our batting is weak.

The match is being played at St Augustine, which is the pitch for the university. I wonder if it's a shocker - that is possible. Let's see if the Irish bat as well as they've bowled!

Look at it this way. Better to learn lessons at the warm-up stage so that they treat the 'minnows' with more respect when it really matters.

West Indies are 95-2 in the 23rd over against Kenya, with Chris Gayle hitting 55 not out.

England are 206-6, with dalrymple 41 not out.

Sri Lanka are 135-2 off 25 overs, and on track for a really big score!

South Africa are struggling on 113-8 after 32 overs, with Hall on 28 not out.

England 286/8 (Dalrymple 76, Bell 46)
Bermuda 24/4 (Anderson 2-8, Plunkett 1-13, Lewis 1-0)

A few wobbles in the batting but a decent performance so far.

Interesting WUMs...

England had a good wobble in the top/middle order, so it's good to know that normal service is resumed.

What shall we do with Vaughan? We need him for his captaincy, but he's no great shakes as an ODI player, especially an opener. No doubt he'll pick up an injury too, which will leave Flintoff burdened with the captaincy again.
Good to see Dalrymple contribute and stabilise the innings, and nice of Mahmood to thrash a few at the end!
It was quite amusing to watch Pietesersen come down the wicket to the Bermudan 20 stone bowler, and then get stumped!!!

Ireland are going a little slowly against SA. A shame, as I would have liked to see them turn over that score.
Sri Lanaka 286/7 after 50, and I don't think Scotland will get near that. You never know though...
